If you are looking for something light to lose yourself in for an hour or two, then this is the book for you. If you don't look too deeply then you will be swept away to the Scottish snow-covered mountains and enjoy a Christmas get-away.

For me, there were a couple of things that just didn't sit right. Others may find them endearing or not have the faintest idea what I'm talking about. But that's why different people write different reviews! First things first, the characters. I just wasn't drawn into their world like I hope to be when reading a book. They just didn't seem quite... real. Secondly, when Mac (which still sounds like a nickname derivative from his surname) decides on a Christmas present, he gives our lead female a new name. He says it's because it's nice having a name that only they use, not one for the general public/family to use. It does run in with the Prince Charming/Frog Prince humour that runs through but still. It was a bit too saccharine for me to deal with. The sister was supposed to be seductive but just came across as bratty. The interaction between Mac and Amelia wouldn't have calmed my fears but hey, it seemed to work for Annie. Like I said, the characters just didn't do it for me.

On the whole, this is a sweet (!) coffee break book, set around Christmas, so if you are looking for a seasonal romance that's light and fluffy, look no further.

This was an a lighthearted christmas read! The story revolves around Annie who goes to a Highland retreat to get away for Xmas from her family, mainly her famous sister, Amelia and her ex-boyfriend Simon, both of who betrayed her. While there she meets the owner, Mac, they have an instant attraction for each other and start a romance which Annie sees as a short term thing for her two week stay. While together Mac develops deep feelings for her and falls for her hard. As soon as Annie discovers this she leaves without saying goodbye. Mac tracks her down and they finally make it together! I did find the romance between Annie and Mac took off a bit too quickly for my liking, it would have been more pleasanter if there could have been a build up to it, as i found it a bit hard to believe they were head over heels in love that quickly. Also although Amelia was famous, Annie in her own right was also a famous author so it was difficult to understand why all of Annie's ex-boyfriends kept falling for Amelia, particularly as Annie was famous and pretty in her own right, with a pleasanter personality! Having said that it was a pleasant read for Xmas.

I'm really glad I downloaded this book. I was looking for a little something that would get me in the Christmas spirit and this sweet little romance was perfect for it.

I really liked the main characters - it was easy to identify with both of them. Family relationships are always harder around the holiday season, especially when there are undercurrents. There were so many things that sounded exactly like my family - the golden child always getting forgiven for everything, even when it's something patently unacceptable.

There were flashes of humour too. It's nice when a book makes me smile :)

I'd definitely recommend this book. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because I thought the relationship started a little too abruptly. It was just too sudden and too soon after they met each other, but after that it was great.

Although this story got going much too quickly to be realistic (they would not have fallen head over heels for each other within an hour of first laying eyes on each other), it was a very good read. A typical plot line for a romance, some may even say predictable. Good characters with equally good back stories. This was the first I've read from this author and I would definitely read more of her work.
