An excellent book that is easy to follow, clearly written and with recipes that don't have obscure ingredients. Each section starts with a quick essay on some fresh foods from that particular month with the author's own enthusiasm and interest in local fresh foods very evident. Some hints on growing easy veg are in the back of the book should you feel inspired. A three course menu is suggested at the start of each chapter but there are recipes for drinks, puddings, starters, fish, meat, game, veg, cakes and soups galore.

A cookbook that is not pretentious and is designed to be used - not looked at on the shelf.
