HASH(0x90a7bd20) out of 5 stars Long Live Sebok 18 Mar. 2013
By Schumann - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
The greatest contrast is provided by the beauty of Sebok's architectural drawings and the mundane forms that sent him to death in the gulag. The author's fascinating scholarly detection restores something of the work of this intensely creative and cut-short career. For students and librarians of architecture (such as this reviewer), the pages on Sebok's influence on Gropius' Total theatre project are worth the "cost of admission' alone. I have seldom been made more aware of the elan of European architectural modernism and the terrible price paid by certain individuals to give it life. A must read for anyone interested in these issues or for anyone who grieves that such outstanding persons gave, as they say, "their tomorrow for our today."
