Sept 2016 update, this Hoover was purchased to hoover carpet tiles in a porta cabin. Reasonably dusty environment but nothing excessive. I threw the hoover away and bought what I should have done in the first place, a Henry. This Hoover had ridiculously low suction and was a complete waste of money. Buy a Henry!
industrial wet vac for the job. I figured if it survived after the job it would be a bonus to use as an ash vac for my log burner. I'm now two years on from the initial job and have used it as a 'site' vac, ash vac for cleaning up all manner of plaster/cement/sawdust around jobs. I seem to be using it constantly. It works brilliant as a wet or dry vac. Yes the filter gets blocked, that's what the filter is for.. to catch the dust. I'm on the original filter and just take it outside and use a stiff brush to clean & unclog and I'm away again at full suction.
There are many Vacs that are better than this one... longer flex, better hose, etc etc... but at this price you can't beat the fact it does what it is
supposed to do. Suck up c^*p
I highly recommend if you need a serious Vac at a low end price.
Yes I use this machine to get rid of the dirt and leaves on my patio - and have done the same for the last 30 years. It's a fast and efficient way of cleaning up and much more efficient than a brush.
Easy to assemble with a screw driver and 6 screws, and stable when you pull it around.
I don't find that the 'silencer/muffler' makes much difference - but it's not an issue for me.
What may be an issue is the length of time that the filter lasts - as it's expensive to replace...
