HASH(0x95339ea0) out of 5 stars Most Incredible Gift EVER! 18 April 2008
By Richard Tolbert - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
As a DOD Contractor working the last few years in Iraq, I've found birthdays over here can be mediocre. But the birthday I had yesterday was the best ever! A few months ago an AMAZING friend I have here, Dotty, found out I've loved KISS since I was a kid. She asked me how I got into them and I told her my Mom always supported my music habit by buying any albums I wanted...especially KISS. A week or so later, Dotty asked me my Mom's name. I told her "Patsy", thinking nothing of it. Well I turned 44 yesterday, and Dotty handed my present to me. An autographed AND PERSONALIZED copy of Lydia Criss' book, "Sealed With A KISS". Dotty had emailed Lydia and asked her to personalize it. On the inside page Lydia wrote "To Richard: You were lucky to have a Mom like Patsy. Wish there were more out there like HER! Love, Kisses, and BETH Wishes! ~Lydia Criss" I was FLOORED! This book is incredible and personal. It gives insight into the band and their personal lives like no other book has before!! The pictures are rare and have never appeared in other publications. Thank you so much Lydia, and even more...THANK YOU DOTTY!!
~Richard

HASH(0x95120660) out of 5 stars Best Kiss book to date! 17 Oct. 2007
By kissfanusa - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
This book is an amazing collection of Kiss history from an unbiased first hand participant in the events that formed this band. Lydia's collection of pictures and clippings and just about everything else is just amazing. Many never-seen photographs! Far more interesting than Kisstory 1 and 2 and a much better value. This book is well printed on heavy glossy paper and has a beautiful color collage hard cover. You will not be sorry you purchased this book if you are a Kiss fan!

HASH(0x959be30c) out of 5 stars Lydia Seals It With a Kiss 18 Feb. 2011
By Ouija - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover Verified Purchase
Sealed With A Kiss is one mighty hefty and substantial book. As a big Kiss fan (with Peter Criss being my favorite), I was very curious to see what his ex-wife has to say about her ex and his band. Lydia Criss was there before anyone knew who Peter was or what he would eventually become. She does a nice job taking readers through the early days before Peter met Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley, the birth of Kiss, the band's struggles, early success, and mega success. There is the expected (and well documented) substance abuse, Peter's bouts with depression and insecurity, and the strange interpersonal relationships among the band members and their extended circle.
Lydia is no angel, but she doesn't claim to be. She indulged too, and she enjoyed the extravagant rock and roll lifestyle just as much as anyone in the Kiss circle.

What makes the book special are the personal photos, documents, and scrapbook-type items that Lydia weaves into her story. It's as much a visual book as it is something to read. There are great photos of Peter before he was famous, pictures of Kiss in the very early days, and shots of them on tour and traveling the world. I doubt most of these photos have ever been seen before. Lydia also has an excellent memory for detail. Yes, she lived it too, but it's pretty obvious that a person who would save ticket stubs, matchbook covers and other little items would probably be able to recollect lots of things.

It's a big, heavy book filled with color and interesting tales. Lydia doesn't paint herself as a victim, but she does describe the fallout from her divorce with Peter. She ended up with tax bills (and others), and he seemed perfectly willing to cut her loose for a Playboy model, even after all Lydia's years of looking after and supporting him. Very sad.

I absolutely love this book. The only minor complaint I have (very minor) is that there are some misspellings here and there, but not enough to detract from the overall book. Good for Lydia that she has finally told her story and shared some pretty awesome experiences. She's done a great job.

HASH(0x9582c1d4) out of 5 stars just be advised... 14 Jan. 2010
By EStats13 - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
...that this honestly isn't a true KISS book. this book reads more as an autobiography of Lydia, Peter's first wife, at the time when she first met Peter till her present life. there are some great candid pictures of KISS indeed but i definitely wouldn't say that this book is all about KISS, because it isn't. of course it does focus primarily on Lydia and Peter's lives, but only mentions the rest of the band here and there. however, it does make for a great read and i had a hard time putting it down.

what i took from this book was for one, Peter was pretty much a douche bag and did more drugs than i realized..and Lydia has had some major tough breaks in life. i think it's safe to say she has been living a full life and has had many great experiences and stories to tell, which she unselfishly displays here, but i also at times felt bad for her and the pains she has endured throughout her life from the loss of family, to financial distress to dealing with Peter's erratic behavior and ultimately, his infidelities.

if you're a KISS fan of course i recommend this book. as i said it's a great read, but just be aware that it focuses on Lydia the most, than Peter, than everyone else. i'd say it's a great overall rock n roll book, and not just a KISS book. it most certainly is not comparable to KISSTORY because that book was ALL KISS, although i think that book could have been done much better than what was produced.

so in conclusion, i would definitely recommend this book not only to KISS fans, but to rock n roll fans or anyone who has a curiosity of a behind the scenes look at someone who for a while, was as close as you can get to being with the hottest band in the world....KISS

HASH(0x95807198) out of 5 stars One of the BEST KISS books ever. 3 Dec. 2007
By David Nolte - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
Lydia Criss was once married to one of the most famous musicians (ok, DRUMMER)on the planet, Peter Criss from KISS. This book has been a labor of love over ten years in the making, and it shows. Each and every page oozes with dedication to the cause. It features the RAREST of the RAREST KISS pictures and information and, truth be told, it puts many of the "official" KISS releases to shame. It is PURE GOLD and I recommend it to each and every KISS fan.
