My year 1 class have thoroughly engaged with this book and have learnt a lot. They have asked very thoughtful questions and were in awe of the male seahorse protecting the eggs in his pouch before they are born. The CD was also thoroughly enjoyed.

This book would support school learning but would also be useful to have in the home. this type of information book is not dull or boring, quite the opposite in fact!

Great book for inspiring Year 1 in their underwater project. Useful for reading practice or for being read to. A good tool for learning information and for stimulating imagination.

I've always found the seahorse an endearing little creature, but for some reason I've never actually done anything about it like learning something. Chris Butterworth's picture book is chocked full of interesting, worthwhile knowledge and illustrated in engaging fashion. Like all really well written picture books, people of all ages should find it worthwhile. Well, I take that back. People who already know a bunch about seahorses might not find this book worthwhile as a source of knowledge, but they should still, I think, be able to admire it for how well and thoroughly it does its job of engaging young learners--and some older ones, as well.
