I bought this for exclusive use as a backup drive for my media collection, and it works fine for doing that. The first thing I did was plug it in, my PC detected it right away and I opened it up. The warrenty is saved as a text file, so I copied that off and quick formatted the drive to get rid of the backup software. I then coppied my 4tb of media over without issue. I had an average speed of around 80mbs via USB 3.0 so I was happy enough. So in terms of use it's fine.
However the design appears to be a case of fasion over function, the gloss black plastic is an absolute finger print magnet. Also those corners are sharp! Also as I'm using this as a backup drive I don't need it on most of the time, I only switch it on when I have some new media to back up, so the lack of a power switch is annoying as it means that I have to plug/unplug the drive at the wall whenI want to use it.
I've only been using it for about a month so I'll have to see how long it lasts but it's okay for now. For use as a big backup drive its just fine.
