This is Sculpey's bargain clay. It is very soft, which makes it good for very young people as they don't have the hand strength to knead the firmer clays. It however makes it very difficult to make anything with any level of detail. One of its great advantages is that it doesn't seem to "dry out" and become hard and crumbly, unlike most other polymer clays. This means that you can use a small amount of it to mix with your hard and crumbly clays to bring them back to life, although unfortunately this results in a pastel coloured mixture.

Sculpey is a matt finish clay but you can polish it easily. Delivery was quick. I baked my models in a halogen tabletop oven oven..you cannot use a microwave.
If you drill it once baked it makes a lot of dust but the manufacturers say it is safe. It does make me sneeze and it creates an unpleasant chemical smell in the oven.

Am currently using this because I need good value. It is very soft, but I can produce complex canes by putting it in the fridge between working on various items. It mixes well with both oil paints and ground pastels, and has not died my hands bright blue!

This clay is plentiful, and quite reasonably priced. Being quite soft it's easy to work with but may cause you problems is you're trying to sculpt something quite complicated. Although the clay is white, it's more of of a slight off-white, being just ever-so-slightly grey. This could be subjective though.

One thing to note is that because of it's light colour, it will pick up and show bits of dust etc. If you're painting it, it won't be a problem. I'm pleased with this clay and recommend it.

I find this stuff more easy to work with than Fimo. When you first pinch a piece off it's quite crumbly, after working with it for a few seconds however, it becomes very soft and simple to make shapes from. It doesn't dry until it's baked which makes it great fr children to mess about with for hours. It's a good plan if you want to take time making something as you can come back and continue working on it day after day. Once baked it is like a hard not to shiny plastic, ever so slightly bendable like a hard PVC model. I paint with medium body acrylics (System 3 Daler Rowney) over the top once dry and finish with an acrylic gloss. I'm never going back to Fimo again!

Personally I see Sculpey as a fabulous form of clay that is superior to other sorts if you are wanting to make small sculptures like dolls. It is a bit like plastercine, except you bake it in the oven. The only problem with it is that when it's hot it can be brittle so you have to leave it to cool. All in all, I love sculpey and wish I'd been introduced to it when I was little because it's beeter than fast-dry clay.

This is very good value for money at £8.29 for 794 grams. It's worth noting that this clay is very much on the soft side compared to other polymer clays, so might not be ideal if you want something for finer detail work. It's nice not to have to do all that kneading though.
