Having read "Die for Me" which was absolutely brilliant - I bought this one "Scream for Me" expecting the same writing techinique and brilliance as Die for Me.

I was completely disappointed to see that Karen Rose had reverted to her all intense fantasy sex and romance scenes which, to me, actually overtake and spoil the plot of the story! In my opinion I found it complete rubbish and boring in places and hard going reading wise. Some pages I actually skipped, ie when it went into lengthy heavy breathing and, for example, "he ran his hand up her thigh", "she could feel his hardness pressing against her" etc, etc, .. this is a crime novel, not a Mills and Boons! I remember in one of her earlier books, there was one point when she wrote, quote"

"As he walked into the room, she felt her nipples go erect"

Unquote.

I mean - come on, what a load of tripe! That did deter me from her books as I don't go in for the Mills and Boon type stories at all. But Die for Me was highly rated, so I tried it and it was absolutely excellent; she cut the sex scenes down and concentrated on the actual story plot which was extemely innovative and new.

Added to that, in Scream for Me, no detective worth their salts would share all the details of a multiple-copycat murder investigation of this level with a potential victim. Shame.

I really enjoyed Die for Me .. her writing was unique on that and she played the sex/lovey-dovey scens down. I have nothing against love scence in a book but when I buy a crime/police procedural thriller, I expect it to be that and not filled with fantasy sex and rubbish like that.

I have lost interest in the book, but will finish it anyway, but it is a complete let down on her previous book.

Another good read from Karen Rose... But do we really need such an in depth look at the sexual side of the main characters? The basis of the story can more than hold its own, without taking us down the 'sex' route...

With the books of Karen Rose there is Always a surprise at the end. Good writing, good description of the people involved in the story, turns and twists and Always an unexpected ending. And this book, being part of a trilogy, brings around a number of people from the other two books and they blend and stand alone at the same time. Really good reading!

This is one of 3 books about the Vartanian family.... I had to find out the long way but reading quite a few books. shame this is not mentioned when purchasing.... It would help to say this is the 1st - 2nd or 3rd book. However, Karen Rose is an excellent author.... very detailed. She brings in lots of characters which at times got confusing, so I devised a way of getting around that - write them all down and what their jobs were. (my advanced years I expect). By the time I read a quarter of the book, I could remembered. I love this story... fell in love with Daniel the lead character... but then us ladies always fall in love them, don't we? The story is very nitty gritty, thank fully broken up by romance, humorous thoughts, deeds or one liners. I would recommend this book.

I forgot how much I enjoyed Karen Rose books. I read my last one eight years ago on holiday, hers were the only English language books I could find in the shops. I really enjoyed the first and hunted down a few others while on hols but left them in the hotel and forgot the name of the author! Took a while to find her again. Like those I read nearly a decade ago, this one had me hooked. I read it while cooking, while cleaning my teeth, before falling asleep and immediately on waking. All Rose's books follow a pattern, there's a hero and a heroine with history. They're instantly attracted to each other and it doesn't take long for them to have earth-shattering 'housey-housey". However, it's that formula that makes these such a nice easy read. You're not waiting for the two main characters to get together, Rose gets that bit out of the way and you can just focus on the plot twists. I had no idea what was coming at the end of this book, Rose second guessed me the whole way through. Is this book going to move mountains? Change hearts and minds? No, but it's a really good read, a page turner, and sometimes that's all you need

Bailey Crighton is being held captive. Her step sister Alex Fallon is her only hope. Alex thinks history is repeating itself as her twin was murdered thirteen years ago. Special Agent Daniel Vartanian brother had photographs of young girls being raped which is the connection to what's going on.

My Thoughts:

When I pick up a Karen Rose novel I know exactly what to expect. There will be high body count and plenty of romance thrown into the mix. This book is no different.

I quite enjoyed this book and what I do like is how all the characters cross over from other books. What I don't enjoy is the length of the books. I do feel that sometimes these books are way too long. I also feel that there are too many characters. I feel myself getting lost sometimes and can't keep up with whose who. What with the length of the book and the many characters the book did at times become never ending.

As I said though I did enjoy the majority of the book and for me its the romance. I enjoy romantic thrillers and there are plenty of authors out there that I enjoy as well as Karen Rose.
