You won't be disappointed by your read of this book. I was surprised by the high quality of the 70+ stories in miniature. It takes a special skill to write something that resonates with readers in less than one page.

Each story is worthy of mention so it seems hardly fair to pick out only a few. I found memorable the over-greased sunbather, the murder in the desert, the tree women, Helen's heart-rending Art, Margaret's apple pie, less than a handful of grey grit like tobacco, the death of Mary's Mum, the `faces' of a relationship, Jeremy's slurp out of an antique bowl and the thoughts of the tree, bridge and boat.

You will have to read the book to discover which stories I refer to. This is my way of being fair.

I'm a little biased as one of my flash-fictions is included in this anthology but I think its a great showcase for tiny little stories. One story 'The meaning of Life' is so tiny it has only one word but that word makes you think and I can imagine great discussions resulting from it. If you've never read flash before then this is a good start.

Glimpses of life arose from the pages! Windows of illumination exposed from writers of all backgrounds and abilities. It encouraged me and others to write our own Scraps. It is fun to read but also contains poignant and heartbreaking flashes. Recommend to anyone who wants to learn about writing and different styles of expressing impressions.

these are fantastic stories, there is Flash fiction but also micro fiction and very short stories. There's even a story that has only one line, a bit like the work of Lydia Davies.
