I bought this book thinking I could use up some of my jelly rolls but as with most American quilt books the quilts are very big and need far more fabric than a jelly roll or two. The author has clearly described her use of fabric but if you've only got a couple of jelly rolls you'll need to raid your stash or purchase extra fabric to cut into 2 1/2 inch strips.

Fantastic book with easy to follow instructions and inspiring colour combinations - Summer Breeze is a firm favourite and am now trying Christmas Ribbons - so far it looks great :)

All those pieces of left over binding (if you make yours 2 ½ inches like I do) are just floating around waiting for this book. Each quilt is made from 2 ½" strips. Of course, if you are a new quilter and don't have the "left-overs", you can always buy a jelly roll or cut your own 2 ½" pieces from yardage.

18 quilts will give you lots of choices to make. But before the instructions, there are 14 pages of general information to get you started on the right track. Each project shows a color photo of the finished quilt complete with finished block and quilt size. Material and cutting lists show you what you need to have material-wise plus what size to cut it into.

Block assembly has plenty of graphics to make sure you are on the right track and there is another graphic showing how to assemble the quilt. Quilt as desired is the only given instruction for quilting.

The block types are varied and are very straight forward to sew. No curves here. Grab a copy and start using up all those lonely scraps.

Exccellent ideas, clearly set out and inspiring me to use up those stashes of leftover bits of material that every quilter has because they cannot bear to throw anything potentially useful away. This book was recommended to me by a patchwork and quilting tutor, who held up her finished results in various colour combinations- delicious! Not for absolute beginners but great if you have covered the basics and are ready to be more creative.

I loved the colours used in this book, though this might encourage you to go out & buy more fabric, rather than using up your scraps!

Another book on how to use up your scraps
