I found this rather difficult to read at the beginning as the main character had appeared in Book 2 and so I already knew him about 16 years later. I can understand a desire to explain what had happened to him in the past to make him such an unhappy person but wonder whether it would have been better to place this between Books 1 and 2 rather than as Book 3. Although called a romance it is certainly not a happy-ever-after tale. I persevered and by the end I felt I understood where the story in Book 4 would lead - hopefully to a very satisfying romantic ending.

Just finished this book, third in the series. So sad and equally as good as books one and two. Cant wait for book 4 to be published. This writer has a fantastic imagination and brings the characters to life so clearly you feel as if you know them. Highly recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Scorned Ever More: Read it! 28 April 2016
By Marcia Gray - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
This story has moments of high action and intrigue that are quite enjoyable but the story line is also very frustrating at times. Warning: If you like happy endings, which I do, this story will lead you right up to the edge then hit you with a punch. Christina McKnight is very good at bringing out the flaws as well as the strength of her characters. She makes you care about some of the characters and leaves you wanting to read more about them. Each book is a continuation of people and events from previous books, as well as adding new ones, weaving in fictional family history with actual historical events and living conditions of people during that time. Scorned Ever More is darker than former books in this series. I gave 4 stars instead of 5 because I would have liked to have seen some events fleshed out more. I sometimes felt like I was being rushed through to get on with the story.
4.0 out of 5 stars A scandalous and intriguing drama. 29 Aug. 2016

From the first page, Scorned Ever More, by Christina McKnight, kept me entertained and swiping eBook pages. Over all, I thoroughly enjoyed McKnight's attention to detail and commitment to staying true to the historical premise of SEM. Unfortunately, SEM's ending left me disappointed. Nonetheless, I highly recommend SEM to all historical-romance readers who enjoy storylines that are filled with scandalous and intriguing drama.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best series in a long time! 18 April 2016

The best way I can describe this book and the others in the series is: once you start to read you want to hurry and get to the end and then when you are at the end you want the stories to go on and on. Superb story and writing!
