4.0 out of 5 stars The world's Greatest musical minds have done it Again 16 Sept. 2011
By Earl Millard - Published on Amazon.com

Henry Mancini is a musical scoring genius and this soundtrack is no exception Vincent Price I was Surprised to learn is an amazing singer and Melissa Manchester singing let me be good to you is such comic relief you forget it's supposed to be a bit scandalous but that's where part of the comedy comes from all in all a great soundtrack but I Don't understand why the audio Quality of world's Greatest Criminal mind is so good when you watch the movie but when you put on this soundtrack it sounds faded out like what you hear when you listen to an old time radio show otherwise everything else is up to par and it's a great soundtrack if you can get it

4.0 out of 5 stars Mancini "scores" for mice what he did for panthers! 9 July 2000
By Reginald D. Garrard - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
"The Great Mouse Detective" is a film that suffers with a slight split personality. Three fourths of the movie is typical cutesy Disney fare; the last fourth, featuring the battle between the good detective and the evil Ratigan is somewhat intense, possibly a little too intense for the very young.
Mancini's score reflects this. The main title is exciting and engaging. Vincent Price's solo turns on "The World's Greatest Criminal Mind" and "Goodbye So Soon" are hilarious and melodic, in a sinister way. As an earlier reviewer stated, the Melissa Manchester addition "Let Me Be Good to You" is quite provocative for a "G-rated" family film.
The "Big Ben Chase" is ominous and thrilling as the two rodents are involved in a deadly battle atop London's famous landmark. Mancini's music has never been more "on the mark."
While not up to his work on the Panther films or "Victor/Victoria," this is still a treat for his fans.
