Product Description

Product Description

When a young woman who is suffering from depression tries hypnosis, she opens a part of her brain that should not be accessed. She goes too far back in to her memories and accesses her previous lives.

Her distant past starts to infect the present in a horrifying fashion, and Basia finds herself struggling to differentiate between what is real and what is not.

This film is going to polarise views, it started off fairly promising with Basia undergoing regression therapy treatment taking her back to her childhood then seeing visions of previous lives including 19th century Japan.
Somewhere along the way it lost me, there are so many flashbacks and flash forwards, out of focus shots and clever camera gimmicks that I found myself rewinding parts in case I had missed something, I hadn't but it made the film harder to follow. This worked well in films like Highlander but that had strong linking action scenes.
You really need to be in the right frame of mind to appreciate a film like this and I have to admit it didn't live up what I expected to see from the Superbly Tense and Darkly Compelling blurbs on the cover.
It is a little like 2001, a Marmite movie you either love it or hate it. Don't be put off by bad reviews though, it's not an out and out bad movie it comes clearer near the end but I suspect many would have given up the ghost by then.

An interesting film with beautiful cinematography. Not one for people looking just for some jump scares but more suited to people who want something clever thought provoking. If you like films like donni darko and 2001 then this is your kind of film.

I really love films that make you think, they don't need to be perfect and this one isn't as it's done on low budget. But certain moments keep jumping back to me, making me think what if reincarnation or some sort of energy passing on generations is real?
Beatifully shot, this film is one of those that either speaks to you of it doesn't. I am a big fan of Paprika, Nolan's early works, Primer, so maybe that can help you in determining whether the film will speak to you or not.

A truly unique film that will stay with you long after watching it. You need to watch this film a few times to see all the details put into making it. I loved the roller coaster ride of the different time periods, great editing, awesome music score and great directing!
