The book describes with a readable style how to explore powerful open-source Java scientific libraries and the
jHepWork plotting libraries in order to accomplish effectively scientific tasks both with
Java and with Jython as a scripting device that facilitates code development.
The scientific scripts described in the book can be directly executed
from the open-source jHepWork environment.
I used some ideas from the jHepWork project in my own ScalaLab project [...],
that uses Scala instead of Jython for executing similar scripts.
The book also describes some useful data processing and visualization techniques,
e.g. statistics, histogram design, contour plots, 3-D plotting, data mining techniques and
However, the quality both of the jHepWork system and of the book presentation although they are good
I believe that could be better, this is why I put 4 stars.
Concluding, I believe that the book of S.Chekanov, is an good investment for the bookstore
of every Java experienced scientist.
Also, I do not know Java, but I was able to program the example using Jython (i.e. Python in Java).
