High GI Carbohydrate & Protein Formula to Aid Rapid Recovery After Exercise
Updated formulation with an optimal 20g protein
Providing rapidly digestible protein and amino acids to support muscle protein synthesis for growth and rebuild. Soy has a complete amino acid profile to which we have added additional leucine to make the formulation even more effective. Leucine is an amino acid which is known to switch on the signalling for muscle protein synthesis, amplifying the affect.
Helps replenish your energy stores with 23g carbohydrate
Carbohydrate is your body's main fuel for moderate to high intensity exercise. Even if you fuel well during training you can still only absorb around 60g of carbohydrate per hour, meaning that demand will outstrip the supply of energy. This shortfall is met by using your glycogen stores, but these must be replenished after training if you are to perform well in your next session.
Endorsed by the World's elite endurance athletes
SiS REGO Rapid Recovery powdered drinks range helps your muscles recover and rebuild. Use immediately after exercise to increase your body's ability adapt to increased training demands to become stronger as quickly as possible, leaving you ready for your next session.

Sir Chris Hoy Advises On Recovery Nutrition & Why It's Important:
Recovery is hugely important and a key element of training/nutrition plans. It becomes increasingly important when:
1) Training for prolonged periods of time multiple times a week
2) Training at high intensities multiple times a week
3) Training/ racing multiple times per day
4) Competing in multi-day events
Endurance exercise and high intensity training places a huge physiological stress on the body, which causes the breakdown of muscle proteins and reduced post exercise glycogen (carbohydrate) levels. Recovery after exercise is essential to:
1) Stimulate protein synthesis (make new proteins) and repair damaged muscles
2) Replace energy stores used up
3) Rehydrate and replace lost electrolytes
4) Enable muscles to adapt to training for enhanced future performance
Recovery should start within the 30 minutes post exercise window when the body is particularly receptive to carbohydrate, protein and fluid intake. As consuming food at this time isn’t always practical, SiS has developed simple and convenient options to make refueling easier and to optimise recovery.

This product is also based on soya, which takes a little longer to digest than far more popular and expensive whey. That means the protein is delivered to the muscles over a longer period. Also included is Leucine, which helps prevent catabolism (muscle wastage between workouts: it's sometimes given to bed-ridden hospital patients so they don't lose too much muscle). It is far more common for products like this to include Creatine, which aids the synthesis of protein to muscle, instead of Leucine. Creatine tends to be cheaper than Leucine, so SIS aren't skimping here, but making a product that may be more effective for those who exercise less frequently and so find it harder to hold on to gains.
As a complete recovery product it also includes carbohydrate and so some calories (but not too many, at 180kcal per serving). As a result I'm far less hungry and sated by a smaller breakfast.
This mixes very easily indeed (I know other reviewers have found it thin, which I didn't, but if you do simply add a little less water). The taste is pleasant and so it goes down quickly. What's not to like?
Looking to up my cycling fitness levels and particularly my muscle strength to fight encroaching disabilities I was delighted to see that this product includes leucine, which is a top-level muscle building product. It also contains a full range of minerals and vitamins, one serving containing from 15% to 57% of the recommended daily allowances across a range of 16 vitamins and minerals.
I used a standard stick blender and jug to prepare the product, since an incident with a ill fitting shaker lid. The REGO powder dissolved well and the taste - ours was chocolate - was perfectly acceptable.
I mixed it with water, as recommended as mixing it with milk slows down the absorption rate and the product is obviously meant to be absorbed quickly, the standard dose being 50g of powder for 500ml of water.
The maltodextrin carbohydrates are easily digestible and unlike some other products, particularly those that contain lactose, there were no unpleasant side effects, .
In summary, a cost-effective premium product, suitable for dairy intolerant users. There are many post - exercise rehydration and recovery products on the market, this one does stand out as a very good buy.
I found it a bit thick to down after my workout and I prefer a more refreshing flavour to chocolate. For me, Maxifuel's Recovermax remains my post workout supplement of choice.
Certainly seems to have an effect! My shoulders and core muscles that would normally have been tight and sore the next morning after this sort of punishment were surprisingly pain free. Well, 'free' is a slight exageration but I certainly didn't feel as wiped out as I would have expected.
The taste is almost like chocolate milk, with a slightly salty edge. I was expecting it to be a bit gloopy and not the sort of thing you'd really want to consume after hard exercise, but it's surprisingly refreshing and a nice foil to the sweetness of your usual energy drinks. It takes the edge of that post-exercise hunger too, which is good for persuading you not to stop at the chippy on the way back from the pool.
So, good stuff. Tasty, seems to work...certainly worth a go.
Valuable point to note when mixing add some water to the container first then the powder and finally top-up with the remaining liquid, you will get a better mix and using a wide mouth bottle to mix it in can help as well.
I find it can sometimes take a lot of shaking for the powder to mix in properly, and it tastes better if it's been sitting the fridge getting cold ready for my post-run recovery.
