Roman and Julianna continue to struggle with their feelings. Roman is convinced that he is not worthy of Julianna. She can see the good in him but, being a Capulet puts her in a position where she could lose everything and everyone if she is not careful. They try to stay away from each other but, it only takes a look or a touch for the fire to be ignited between them. Whenever they give in to this undeniable attraction, trouble follows.
Roman is torn between his family obligations and the love of his life. Going against his father could cost them their lives. There are so many obstacles that they don't know whether they are coming or going. When Roman finds himself being pulled further into his father's world, he comes to a decision which could so easily backfire. Besides, it's not the easiest solution! Julianna is more confused than ever with the mix messages.
This story is heartbreaking and frustrating. The rivalry and hate between the Tyrells and the Capulets are indisputable and the young starcrossed lovers are stuck in the middle. This version of Romeo and Juliet is emotionally fierce and fiery. My heart sank after what transpired at the end. There is no telling on what to expect next. I am looking forward to the grand finale and I do hope that the fates will look favourably on this beautiful young couple.
I received a complimentary eARC and the views expressed are my personal opinion.
Roman and Julianna can't help but be drawn to one another, the more that it becomes obvious that they simply cannot be together, the more it also becomes obvious that they cannot be apart. Everything seems to stand between them and happiness, is there any way that they can finally be together? Roman finds himself drawn ever deeper into the darkness that surrounds his family, the more that he becomes involved, the harder it is to hang on to who he is and what Julianna loves about him. She may be the only one who can save him, but at what cost.
This series is very well written and they are the kind of books that you simply cannot put down once you have started. I polished this one off in a day (had I had the time, it would have been one sitting, but sadly, real life got in the way.) This is quite a dark and dangerous world, which might not be to everyones taste, but I have really enjoyed it.
We all know how Romeo and Juliet ends, is this version heading the same way? I really hope not, but I'm looking forward to finding out.
There's something provocative about forbidden love, but when two characters such as Jules and Roman are involved, it makes for an even more intense read. Roman may have played hot and cold throughout this book, and he may have tried his damnedest to ignore his feelings for Jules, but there was no denying the chemistry between them. Each time they were together it set off a spark that left me needing a cold shower. Blake seduced me every step of the way, and sweet lord did she do a fantastic job of it; heightening the sexual tension until it was palpable.
Stepping into the underworld of the Mafia has always fascinated me, but I hope that Roman can hold onto the goodness inside, even as he falls deeper into his family's lifestyle. Jules is the beacon of light he needs to keep him afloat, but with how this book ended I'm not sure what lies in store for either of them. I have a sneaky feeling that there's far more going on that I can even comprehend and this makes me want to next book even more! I need to know what happens. Will Jules and Roman finally get the happiness they deserve...together, or will who they are always stand in the way??
Another brilliant and suspenseful installment in this series...can't wait for more.
This is a story you get invested in you really can't help diving straight into all the drama and angst. It's a drama filled story that has you on the edge of your seat at times I was screaming at both Jules and Roman in frustration. As a reader we are in a unique position that we can see what's happening that they don't and even when I was shouting at them not to do something they didn't listen. Why didn't they listen?
There is so much going on I this book it's like a game of cat and mouse but I'm still not entirely sure who's catching who. I'm going to be counting down the days till book three.
