HASH(0x930b9dc8) out of 5 stars An enjoyable introduction to The Walkabouts 16 Nov. 2014
By E. Numbers - Published on Amazon.com
I initially discovered The Walkabouts through the infamous Sub Pop 200, and after enjoying Got No Chains, I decided to search for more of their music. Scavenger was available on Amazon at a reasonable price, so I figured it was worth a listen.

Overall, I enjoy Scavenger, and I would recommend it to others. It has a folk feel to it, almost like Fleetwood Mac, and it is calmer than the other grunge bands with Sub Pop. Despite being someone who appreciates louder rock, Scavenger is very enjoyable. The main vibe is pretty energetic with unique sounds on each track, leading up the calmer, soothing Train to Mercy.

The downside of Scavenger to me is that no single song really stands out, so I was hesitant to rate it at 5 stars. I decided that this is outweighed by the fact that any time I start listening to Scavenger, I inevitably will listen to the whole thing. It isn't necessarily infectious, but you'll keep wanting to listen to more. I highly recommend it.

HASH(0x932c9858) out of 5 stars good, sturdy road music 19 May 1998

Format: Audio CD
I love listening to this cd in my car on the open road. Their insistent 4/4 rhythm is very conducive to self-reflection. This collection of songs is very solid and catchy. And, Natalie Merchant sings on one of the best songs, creating a peculiar feel for the album that keeps you wanting more.
