Product Description

About the Author

I was born back in 1964, when old money was still being used. Then at the grand old age of four my parents whisked me of to Australia. I stayed there till I was nine, I then ended up back in England. I had a number of school-boy jobs when I was young - paper rounds, washing cars, gardening, basically anything that could earn me a few extra pounds pocket money. When I left school I went and picked strawberries, this lasted one whole day, I was sick of the sight of them for years after that. After this I worked as an engineering apprentice with a firm called, Baker Perkins, but two years later I got accepted into the Royal Air Force, and my life-long love of aircraft took off. After twelve years I left and I became a Fire Fighter, working for the MOD but attached to the American Air Force bases, RAF Alconbury and RAF Molesworth. On leaving the fire service I got a job driving a lorry, this was for a scrap metal merchant while I trained to become an ADI (Approved Driving Instructor). I qualified as an ADI and ran my own driving school for twelve years. This was the second of my two long term career jobs. Since then I have worked for the NHS as an IT trainer, and I now drive the mobile library where I live, another job that I love and that is turning into the third of my long term careers. Writing a book is an undertaking that I have enjoyed immensely, to the point where I now have a number of other books in draft form, six of them being a supernatural erotic horror series - soon to be released. I also write the occasional poem for my wife, which I hope she enjoys.

If I could I would give this 3.5 stars. I enjoyed reading the book. It was an interesting story and had some really good plotting points. Where it fell down for me was the feeling that it had been written in discreet chunks at different times to tick of plot ideas from a list and that these chunks had been assembled into a text without revision so that the narrative did not flow smoothly. Ebooks which are self published or put online with small organisations that do not edit the text often suffer from typos and spelling errors and if they grate on the reader's sensibilities it distracts from the story. If your mates say it is brilliant that is one thing but your true friend is the person who points out the slips and jaggy bits and gets you, as author, to do a bit of polishing.

This was patchy. Some parts were exciting; other parts dragged unless you are into lots of military jargon. There were lighter moments that made me laugh. On the whole I struggled to finish it. Perhaps the story line didn't interest me enough to really engage.

There are times when I forget what I've read. Sadly this was one of those books.
After a quick recap and think.
Some of the plot falls a bit flat when it comes to the surveillance antics of ether side. With both parties I Ask the question are they professionals in their field?
On a pedantic note Swanage is in Dorset not Devon. This I thought would feature in the plot. But it turned out to be the authors lack of UK geography.

A reasonable read which could have been better if it wasn't full of typos and somewhat disjointed. A bit more character development would have been good too. The plot was good even though far fetched at times. A little more thought and time from the author would have made this a good read and it wouldn't have felt like he was in a rush to finish the book. Not made my mind up yet as to reading the next book.

I enjoy trying new authors and this is the type of action adventure stories that I like.
The story is well paced with some nice twists and turns that kept me turning the pages to the very end.
I would certainly recommend this book.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book once I had got into the characters. The story was interesting and entertaining and kept me guessing where it would end up. Some of the dialogue might sound "strange" to non ex military but for those who have served it takes you back to when you did. I had the pleasure to serve with Baz in Germany in the 80's but this does not influence my comments and I'm sure if it was poor Baz would want me to say. Perhaps a list of terminology at the beginning might help other readers.

The best thing about this book is that it was a freebie....shame I think that as I was excited to get an sas book for free and looking forward to a good read but it was so far fetched it bordered on the ridiculous. Save your time and buy a book written by Phil champion or Andy mcnab or Chris Ryan

Like many e-book authors, Barry Buckingham has written a good story but has failed to read through his manuscript and correct the numerous mistakes. I enjoyed the book but it would have been so much better if properly corrected.
