HASH(0x95f5d3fc) out of 5 stars An epic journey through the life of Scarfe! 3 Mar. 2004
By Greg Paul - Published on
Format: Hardcover
Scarfe guides us through his life and tells us about the extraordinary people and places his artwork has led him to. From sleepness nights as a bed-ridden asthmatic child, to visually reporting the Vietnam war. Scarfe explains how his tedious, mindless work at an advertising studio full of lies led him to producing his own drawings that expressed his feelings. Work that captured some sort of social comment. He tells how he worked his way to meet President Johnson, The beatles, and more. Scarfe releases his feelings and fears in this book just as he does in his drawings, and sculptures. Find out how he got his reputation as one of the most famous satirical illustrators he has today.
The book is brilliantly illustrated with Scarfe's work and photo's, and overall is a very entertaining journey through his own life.
Thoroughly enjoyable!!
