The T-fal pan is a nice pan for $25. It is very light and it works. This pan is Oven safe up to 350.F/177.C, not too bad. If you just want a cheap pan that will get the job done, buy this pan. The problem with light weight pans is that the heat does not distribute as evenly and it does not hold the heat as well. I strongly prefer a heavier pan. With our other pans, the T-fal sees little use. Note that the fact that this is oven safe to 350F is a big deal. Many pans may be, but I have seen some that are not (when my Mother just assumed all were and she put one in an oven and it melted the top handle). Note that there is a hole in the lid to allow steam to escape. Unsure how this affects rice where I do not want the steam to escape.
The more expensive ScanPan is very nice. This is safe in the oven to 500F / 260C. This pan will take a bunch of abuse and it is a very nice pan. They use a great process for embedding the non-stick surface. My first pan like this was a gift to my wife and even after she abused it, it sill works well (even with some of the non-stick surface scratched away). This pan is made in Denmark. High quality. The pan is heavy and durable. There is good heat distribution. I like a good solid pan. Over the years, I have made a bunch of rice in this pan, works very well. Come to think of it, I can't think of anything at which this pan does not do a great job. You are not likely to be disappointed with this pan.
The middle of the road priced pan is the pan that my wife prefers and is more inclined to use. This pan is oven safe to 450F and it is made in Toledo Ohio. High quality. The pan is heavy and durable. There is good heat distribution. I like a good solid pan. My wife really likes the built in strainer for when she cooks some Pasta and wants to strain the water. I have not yet used this pan to make rice, so I do not know if the integrated strainer makes a difference by letting steam escape. Over-all, this is my first pick as well. The price is very good for what you get and I like that it is still made in the USA.

This new pan is exactly like the old one except for the lid now having a metal rim. Good idea! as I chip quite a few of the old lids. The rimless old lid was also 2 times heavier.
What I love also about this pan is the handle which feels great in one's hand, comfortable with smooth and more rounded edges, thus making it easy to hold, unlike that of the Calphalon tri-ply stainless steel series. (I have a few pieces). The pan's non-stick titanium-ceramic material releases food effortlessly, and requires no polishing or scrubbing. I use BarKeeper's Friend cleansing powder to remove stubborn burnt grease stains! Highly recommended!
Highly, highly recommended!
The pan arrived quickly and in perfect condition. After reading the instructions the pan was cleaned and lid assembled with no difficulty. I used low to medium heat as recommended and made scrambled eggs with very little oil (didn't really need oil) and the eggs slid out onto my plate with ease. The clean up was awesome! Just soap and water and it wiped clean, no scrubbing necessary.
I am guessing that those people who have been unhappy with their Scanpans is due to using high heat which destroyed the surface lining of their pans. If you follow the manufacturers instructions and use lower heat you probably won't be disappointed.
I was so pleased with this 1 quart sauce pan that I purchased the 5 Quart Sauce Pot and plan to add additional pots and pans to my kitchen in the future. They really are as good as people are reporting.
