This is a brilliant Scalextric set to reintroduce yourself to a childhood hobby, or to introduce your kids to for the first time.
The track is very big and can be configured in quite a few orientations. You won't feel the need to rush out an buy expansion packs like with a lot of sets. It has a bridge and two crossover sections, which add greatly to the enjoyment, and it has good accessories in terms of kerbs and crash barriers. I'm not mad about the track supports for the sections leading up to the bridge - they're very fiddly; surely they could have designed something better? - but that is a minor quibble.
Unlike the track I remember from the 1980s/90s the tracks are now very quick to snap together as well, and the cars look great, hold the track really well with magnets and seem very robust. There's no stupid brick of a transformer anymore like I remember - just a small one that is already connected to the track into which you plug the controllers.
I'm really delighted with this set. The only thing I would like to see is some kind of limiter on the throttle to stop enthusiastic children sending the cars hurtling off at a corner and straight into the window!
Bought for my 7 year old son for Christmas and he loves it already. All it's missing is a lap counter/timer so that was put straight on his wish list. The track is huge and so much better quality than the cheaper versions he has had in the past. This is very worth buying, you will not be disappointed.
