3.0 out of 5 stars Great cocktails... if you have two weeks to spare. 3 Dec. 2013
By Benjamin Mandelker - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
A quick glance at this book reveals that nearly every recipe requires an infused spirit, an esoteric bitter (often to be purchased online), or a long-steeping syrup. This means that in most cases, you won't be able to just up and make a cocktail with friends. You'll need to plan your libation hours, days, or even *weeks* ahead of time, which is great for some but a bit cumbersome for people like me. (It can also be expensive to portion off valuable liquor supplies into highly specific infusions that may only have single uses). I'm sure the end product is delicious, and for major enthusiasts, this book is a dream come true. However, for casual cocktail-makers who like to whip together something fun and interesting on a whim, this book — despite its ingenuity and beautiful pictures — may leave you stymied.

"Organic, Shaken, and Stirred" by Paul Abercrombie remains the high watermark for savory (and non-savory) modern mixology.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic 26 Aug. 2013
By Jackie Dodd - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
This book is beautiful, a great addition to my cocktail library. I'm not one to be drawn to the overly sweet "girly" cocktails, so the title really grabbed my attention. I instantly fell for the gorgeous photos, succinct and thoughtful definitions of cocktail terms and beautiful layout. I've made three of these cocktails so far, and all have been home runs. I'm adding this to my list of holiday and hostess gifts to give for the upcoming holiday season!

Love this book. Arrived as anticipated. Have tried some of the recipes and found them awesome. Would recommend this book to anyone with a more sophisticated palate who refuses to settle for fu fu drinks.
5.0 out of 5 stars Beautifully photographed 2 Sept. 2013

I am a novice to savory cocktails and this is a must for anyone wanting to expand their mixology knowledge. The intro with tools, techniques, and syrups etc...is a great primer to help me get started. Each drink is like a little story and I look forward to the adventure of sharing with a few of my friends. Cheers!

5.0 out of 5 stars they have all tasted fantastic. One of my friends is making bitters now 19 Feb. 2015
By Ms. Fli - Published on Amazon.com

This book has inspired a cocktail revolution amongst some of my friends. We've tried several of the recipes, and, while some sound weird, they have all tasted fantastic. One of my friends is making bitters now, and I'm excited to try them with some of the cocktails in the book. We're even making up our won savory cocktails now.
