Saved By Her is a very dark yet absolutely beautiful story about finding your wings and flying again after severe tragedy has been the whole of your life. It’s all you know, and when faced with simple everyday situations, it’s overwhelming to say the least.

Jack grew up with a literal monster as a father figure, and the sorrow and pain he was put through is unquestionably evil in so many ways, and as you will see, he becomes a true fighter for life. Raised to be a sex slave, not knowing anything else, you do what you’re told with no back talk, or there’s harsh and violent consequences. Jack does just that, until the night River buys him, and slowly shows him what it means to be free and get to make your own decisions.

River and her partner Adam buy sex slaves, on the sole basis of setting them free. Free to live the life that’s been taken away from them for so long. It’s always been cut and dry, that is until River meets Jack, then all bets are off.

Jack has an innocence about him that is profound and amazing, but extremely heartbreaking in the same breath. He’s learning to live again, doing basic things like gardening, enjoying a hot meal, learning to drive, and just being a normal guy. It’s a lot to handle, and his control at times is tested. River brings him back from the brinks of destruction, and the feelings he has for her are confusing at first, but play out into one of the most innocent and heart warming things I’ve ever seen.

So many instances where I wanted to reach into my kindle and throat punch more than a few people, and most of all, give Jack the biggest hug ever! This isn’t your ordinary dark sex trade story, it definitely starts off that way, but ends with the knowledge that there are still good people out there fighting the good fight for others.

I am officially hook on Michelle Horsts books! This one I think had to top all the books I have read to date by this author. It just clicked with me.
As with all Michelle's stories (and truthful warnings!) her books are dark, contain graphic and disturbing scenes and are not for the easily offended.

Jack has only known terror his entire life. A slave to serve others and their deluded and disturbing fantasies. With the aim being to break a slave, Jack would face horrific abuse.

Excerpt:
...A monster can be disguised behind many faces.
I have to remind myself that I'm only a slave and she's a monster.

But River, would be his solace. His "sanctuary" quite literally. Rescuing him and another slave (Sophie) from their life of horror. The journey of rediscovery and finding themselves would be a difficult one but an essential one.

A story of despair, hopelessness and abuse all turned around in a heartbeat upon meeting one woman. The innocence and vulnerability of someone relearning the simplest acts of life, trust, love and beyond is just heartwarming and pieced my broken heart back together after the initial darkness this story held. Light always wins over dark and that is very much the case in 'Saved by Her'.

Final Excerpt:
I love every person in my life differently.... I love watching you work and seeing you find yourself. I just love you Jack. There's no category for you because you're special to me.

Hooked from page one I couldn't put it down. Don't normal read about a woman saving the man but it was nice to have it the other way round for change. The characters all come together with the storyline was a rough journey for Jack but glad River was there to save him. Looking forward to the next chapter.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review. Michelle Horst has done a fantastic job with this story. Even though parts of the story are dark I still found the story easy to read. Michelle's characters made it easy for me to fall in love with them. Each had a unique character and personality which I adore. Jack the main character has been a slave for most of his life to a cruel stepfather. He endures torture, rape etc only to protect his younger brother. River comes into his life trying to save him from his life of cruelty. She feels guilty after her father made money from the slave trade and now uses that money to help those people break free being slaves. I found the story dark in parts but very beautiful. From the very first chapter I was hooked and finished the book in a day. The only thing I didn't like about the book was that it finished. I would love to have read more about Jack and River so hopefully Michelle will have another book in the works to continue their story.

Firstly I was lucky to receive this for my honest review. OMG this is the most beautiful love story that has gripped so many of my emotions, I haven't been able to put this down even through the darkness it keeps all hope alive and bright. I won't do spoilers but Jack has endured a horrendous life that would truly crush a person but when River comes into his life this story really explodes. River is beautiful from the inside out and she has seen things that haunt her and drive her to make a sanctuary for those she rescues. I think this story will stay with me purely for the strength, hope, desire and loyalty which shines through. I really think this is a must read, it won't disappoint but be warned what they go through is dark.
