I realise I am in the minority here, this is just my opinion, but this book was just 'ok' for me. The synopsis was interesting and I am always up for a second chance love story which this is. Scott and Skylar were together at school having known each other since early childhood . but never really hanging out in the same groups. He was the popular hockey star in the making. He could have any girl he wanted and for a brief while he wanted Skylar. Sky had a horrid childhood and for 6 months or so, Scott was her bright spot in a grey and sad homelife. I have to say, the circumstances in which they broke up and the words he said to her were horrible. The guy was blunt, nasty and a true douchebag. Sky moves away and makes something of her life but after 4 years their paths cross again and old feelings are revived.

I wanted Sky to play harder to get. I wanted Scott to be more single minded in his pursuit to get her back and by that I mean he was a bit too wishy washy. Both of them drove me a bit mad with the back and forth. The ending was lovely and I really liked the supporting characters - in fact, even though this book didn't live up to my expectations, I am going to read the other two in the series. These are standalones in a series but maybe I should have read them first.

Ultimately, I just didn't warm up to Skylar and Scott as much as I thought I would. I still felt at the end that she was better suited to her roommate / best friend Asher and I liked him way more than Scott.

Save My Heart is Book Three of the Sticks & Hearts Series......and it's Scott's turn. I have to be honest.....after the way he came across in Jersey Girl I did doubt whether he could ever redeem himself......and especially in the prologue of this book!
Man, the prologue gutted me, absolutely gutted me......I was in tears......not the first time Ms James has done that in the first few pages of a book (Alaska or Bust!).......I felt every crushing emotion that Skylar felt. This author has the ability to wring every single emotion out of you during the course of a book.......but she did it in the prologue!! A record!!
In my eyes he redeemed himself and more......but I will let you make your own mind up when you one click it! Things are not always as they seem and some people will always try to please others, to the detriment of themselves and those they care about......that's a lesson we could all take from..............and that scene in the field near the end?!.....I didn't think I had any more tears left!
This author totally sucks you in, I didn't want to put it down.....I just wanted to stay wrapped in the love and warmth of her words........such a beautiful second chance love story.

I was pulled in to this book from the beginning, which I like cos its as though I am part of the book and I can picture things in my head as they are happening.
I could not put this book down once I had started it. I can say hand on heart the male character in this book has redeemed himself in my eyes in this book and I love him to bits.
There were a few twists in this book, some I did see coming some surprised me. I did cry, which I have done in each book in the series so far.
Jersey Girl is and will always be my favourite book but I have to say this is my second.
So worth more than 5 stars, this book and this series is one I would highly recommend.
Rhonda James has written a fanfreakingtastic book. I look forward to what is next from her.

What is happening to me? I’m sat here listening to Backstreet Boys’ Incomplete on repeat and writing a review on another Sports Romance… feeling like a puddle of mush. And, yes the box of tissues is empty because Rhonda James had me crying my heart out. Is it possible to even run out of tears? If so, mine have got to be almost there. Here’s the thing, I’m normally more into rough, volatile and fiery romances, however, as of late I’ve been reading more and more the sports, rom com kind that are all cheery and giggles and candy. Although Save My Heart definitely falls into this category, it also has a real heart-wrenching, soul-ripping and teeth clenching quality. At this very minute my chest feels so tight it hurts – even though I’ve hit the end. Which, by the way, Ms James… whaaaat? I know it’s not a cliffhanger, well it kind of is, but I am now waiting on my knees for that novella!

Anywho, considering this is a Sports Romance there’s actually only one proper game the whole way through, even if there are mentions to others. For me this was good, even if I am a massive hockey fan – ice or field – because it didn’t disrupt the story. Save My Heart centres around Skylar and Scott, high school sweethearts. The storyline could’ve gone a very predictable route, you know blah blah blah, but it was actually sweetly refreshing. The story wasn’t so far-fetched and out this world that it was difficult to keep up with it and the characters were compelling and endearing. Even Scott, who starts of as a bit of dick, is utterly lovable. I know that dirty talk is the norm, but let me tell you that Scott Rivers made me blush. This guy had me swooning one minute, drooling the other and then picking my tongue off the floor the next. His words are enough to make you orgasm.
