Product Description

Horror, madness and fevered sexual tension build into a frenzy of unhinged lust and murder in Satan s Baby Doll, a psychedelic slice of Eurosleaze madness that delivers all the twisted weirdness and cinematic insanity a cult movie fan could desire.

Now this cult classic from prolific porn director Mario Bianchi gets the full Shameless treatment on DVD, featuring an exclusive Shameless Rebuild version of the film.

Satan s Baby Doll features golden age porn diva Marina Hedman, trash movie queen Mariangela Giordano and, in her unique appearance, Jacqueline Dupré. The latter stars as a innocent teenage girl possessed by the wicked spirit of her dead mother; a slain woman who seeks revenge by driving her kin to the edge of sanity.

Now, in the crypt deep beneath a gothic castle, evil is stirring, ready to whip the residents into an orgy of carnal desire and bloody murder...

Satan s Baby Doll (cert. 18) is released on DVD by Shameless Screen Entertainment.

Special Features include: Shameless Rebuild version of feature presentation with extra footage previously only available in XXX version; reversible sleeve featuring original artwork; Mariangela Giordano biography (adapted from an article by Alan Jones and Mark Ashworth); alternate scenes; theatrical trailers; Shameless trailers; optional English subtitles. In Region 0.

Satan's Baby Doll is considered a cheap knock-off of Malabimba (coincidentally also directed by a man called Bianchi!). Made in the early 80s it features Mariangela Giordano (a respected actress who went through a period of starring in exploitation movies due to influence from her husband at the time) as a self-satisfying nun, and Jacqueline Dupré as a rather attractive young woman driven to kill by either her insane mind or the demonic spirit of a recently deceased woman. The film is slow by some standards, and it's not shot with a great deal of flair, but I did like the dark gothic castle/mansion setting and the strange bunch of characters that inhabit the place, each one messed up in their own particular way. There's a certain degree of sexiness injected by Bianchi, and a morbid tone underpins the proceedings. It should also be mentioned that the score is quite unique and adds to the atmosphere of the movie.

Shameless present the film on DVD in an anamorphic widescreen transfer, an accurate representation of the film's original aspect ratio, with Dolby mono sound. The image looks good for standard definition and I projected it to a pretty big screen with decent results - colours are not particularly saturated, though detail is moderate and overall the film seems to look pretty much as it should. Shameless have thoughtfully reinserted harder core shots from a scratchy German print to make the film as complete as possible - of course the picture quality drops during these shots but it only amounts to a minute or so during the course of the whole film, and I'd rather have them there than not despite their presence not necessarily developing the story in any way. Audio is Italian language with good English subtitles available for those who can't speak Italian.

The best bit of this disc was the trailer for a sex and cannibalism movie whose name I can't remember but must look up and order! Lots of nudity, explicit sex, straight and lesbian, and some heart ripping out and munching and much more fun in a couple of minutes than in the entirety of this film. Completely misleading cover as there's no devil anywhere. The triple X reinserts aren't remotely hardcore either so don't get too excited when the screen gets grainy. Okay, the naked beautiful faux-nun fondling herself isn't bad but there's a lot less sex than you'd expect. There isn't much gore either and what there is is pretty feeble. Most of the film is the cast emoting as loudly as they can. You have the nasty patriarch, blubbering servant who wants to save the daughter from being possessed by the soul of the dead (naked) mother in the catacombs -too late, the beautiful faux-nun, the doctor who... Oh never mind. The best bit is a sort of necrophiliac lesbian scene but that doesn't come until -spoiler- the end.

And I've probably made it sound better than it is. Dull, glum, and dull. Now what was the title of that opening trailer? Something with 'naked' 'cannibal' and 'queen' in it I think.

this typical Italian fare i found to be one of those films that sped by. the dysfunctional family, the barking doctor, greed, revenge. Yep it's all there and the usual quota of flesh.
