I was slightly disappointed when the book arrived that it was not a ritual working book,however it was still a very good read.The book tells you what your responsibility,s are as a Satanist,and how to commit yourself to the religion if your are serious.It gave me some good ideas on how I could improve my Satanic practice.
The only thing that bothered me slightly was the book encourages animal sacrifice which I don,t really agree with,and it is something that I personally would never carry out.
It 'appears' to be the work of a currently serving Satanist, giving Guidance from a Satanist's perspective.
It loses 1 Star for style and layout (see below) but mainly because:
(a) There's 'No 'Index': - No Index means that you cannot quickly access the relevant information that tailors your studies to suit your personal needs;
(b) The Table Of Contents give no indication as to the elements of Guidance or the subject to be discussed within the chapters;
(c) The use of Roman Numerals for chapter numbers.
Chapter 1 - Satan: - Guidance On: Satan's Gift To Mankind - Satan's Motivation for Helping Man - The Relationship Between Satan And His Demons,
Chapter 2 - Satan And Demons: An Objective Fact Of The Universe: - Guidance On: An Objective 'Reality' Of The Universe,
Chapter 3 - Satanic Unity And The Antichrist: - Guidance On: Satanic Unity And The Antichrist,
Chapter 4 - Pacts With Satan And Demons - The Focus is on 'you'. 'Pacts' are a way to advance Satan's Kingdom and 'gain' something from the experience.
Chapter 5 - The Afterlife: - Guidance On: Hell, The Post-Mortem Fate Of Non-Satanists, Rewards And Punishments, Reincarnation,
Chapter 6 - Am I A Satanist? The Focus is on 'you'. Is Satanism an 'Eternal Quest' a 'Great Discovery', a 'Great Decision', or a 'Great Demonstration' - (note the word 'demon'/'demons' from demonstration).
Chapter 7 - The Importance Of Standing Up For Yourself And Satan: - The Focus is on 'you' - As Bob Marley puts it: "Get Up, Stand Up, Stand Up For Your Rights, Get Up, Stand Up, Don't Give Up The Fight". Guidance On: Fighting 'Satan's Corner' as well as your own corner as a Satanist.Read more ›
Even the terminology and the rituals are heavily indebted to Christianity, with the author constantly emphasizing the need for a personal relationship with Satan and his Demons, the necessity of prayer and baptism, opposition to abortion (because children of Satanist couples should become Satanists, too) and respect for the High Priest or Priestess (compare respect for the Christian clergy). Dating non-Satanists is forbidden, since Satanists are a race all their own. Compare fundamentalist Christians (“unequally bound”) or Orthodox Jews! Many of the notes contain Biblical passages, sometimes extensive ones. And yes, the pseudonym “Brother Nero” obviously refers to The Number of the Beast in John's Book of Revelation, which is 666 (or 616).
Theologically, Brother Nero's form of “traditional” or theistic Satanism accepts the basic Judeo-Christian story to a surprisingly large degree. Apparently, Jehovah is a real being and seems to have created both the world, man and the angels. However, since the creator-god is a wicked tyrant who created man as his robot-like plaything, the angel Lucifer was right in leaving Heaven and start a rebellion. Thus, Satan is a “fallen” angel, just like in Biblical religion, rather than the real creator-god. Nor is he a counter-god (as in Zoroastrianism) or a polytheistic high god (as in many other forms of Satanism, which straddle Neo-Paganism or Wicca at this point). Strangely, Brother Nero believes that Satan can somehow overthrow Jehovah, despite being a created being. To this end, Satan wants to recruit humanity – or at least part of it.Read more ›
