Format: Hardcover
I am a huge fan of both Nicky Cruz and David Wilkerson's writing; the true stories that fill many of their books are, without doubt, inspirational. 'Satan on the Loose' is certainly no exception. Whilst not all of the events described necessarily happened to Cruz himself, they all powerfully underline the point he is making; that the Occult, in all its guises, is very dangerous and is becoming more and more popular.

As Cruz was raised in a home very deeply into the Occult and spiritualism, he is able to talk with real authority and insight on the subject and does not shy away from showing how tempting it can be. Cruz gives numerous examples of where the magic being practised by his parents and others did work and to seemingly great effect; his mother for example predicted the attack on Pearl Harbour. The book, however, makes it quite clear that whilst dabbling in spiritualism may appear rewarding it is in fact a hollow pursuit and is ultimately, in Cruz's opinion, as damaging (if not more so) than a drug habit.

My one reservation about this book is that much of the contents are the same as his later, more optimistically titled, book 'Satan on the Run'. I just happened to read that one first and so felt as if I was essentially re-reading his later work. 'Satan on the Loose', however, does seem slightly less "preachy" and some of his more extreme views do not come across in this book. I would undoubtedly recommend this book to anyone who enjoyed 'Run Baby Run' although it is perhaps not worth reading if you have already read 'Devil on the Run'. Nevertheless this is an informed work by a man who clearly understands the subject of the occult.

Had this book years ago, it scared me senseless and then I lost it along the way. So have decided to see if I'm any braver 20 years on.

Nicky Cruz has put together stories from real people, and his own background about the devil and his ways. From the obvious to the subtle he reveals how Satan works to enter our lives and entrap us. A must read for any who have or are involved in the occult, witchcraft, phsycic powers, etc.
