Ok, so if you're reading these reviews, you're probably trying to decide whether to buy this 4 egg poacher or the aluminium coated one that costs a couple of quid more. I've bought both (I'll be adding a review of the other one too which you'll be able to see is for a verified purchase as proof) and, in my opinion, this one is a better poacher.

We bought this one first. My wife loves poached eggs but we never really did them at home as without an egg poacher it becomes a messy affair. I figured at £10, this poacher was worth a shot. It was an instant hit. It's very lightweight but the pieces go together well. It cooks eggs well, not too fast and was easy to clean. The plastic handles on the poaching cups are easy to pick up when cooking is done as they don't get too hot.

Tip for any egg poacher by the way: Buy some cans of spray oil. They're sold on Amazon too and are awesome. Do a quick spray in each cup of your egg poacher and your eggs will come out far easier. We now have a higher end poacher and it still makes a real difference. Non stick only does so much.

Now the only downside with this poacher is that if you forget to put water in, or leave it too long unattended, the cups will melt and it's a write off. If you use it correctly, this won't ever be an issue though and is worth the 'risk' as the eggs are cooked much better in this one than the other one. My wife didn't put enough water in and let it sit on the hob while waiting for bacon to cook which ended up causing it to self destruct. We then purchased the other one, which just isn't as good despite being made from metal and costing more.

I bought this item as my grandfather's old metal poacher was beginning to stick and needed a new one. I was a bit apprehensive about buying a cheap one but at the same time I didn't want to spend a lot of money on a new one that might now work.
It has taken me a while to get used to the cooking time because the plastic cups work a little slower than my old metal ones but I have only had to increase the cooking time by 2 min but you will find what suits you best. Lining the cups with margarine or butter is definitely the best method. It's all dishwasher friendly as well. Would definitely recommend especially at such a good price.

A great buy! Had real problems with making poached eggs the 'traditional' way by swirling the water in a standard pan as it just left separated whites and gunky water. This pan is a life saver. My boyfriend is well chuffed with it as it makes perfect poached eggs. We have found that using a gas hob, it takes 5 minutes to cook a perfect hen's egg or just over 6 minutes to cook a perfect duck's egg. Easy to use and never fails! There is not much to go wrong, you just have to work out the best timings for your eggs and always remember to grease the bottom of the cups first, so the eggs release a lot better.

This egg poacher is a very good design and cooks egg to perfection. This kitchen gadget is very handy and saves a lot of time poaching eggs. It makes a complicating task easy and enjoyable! Rather than boiling water in a pan then cracking your eggs into the pan watching it go everywhere wasting most of the egg and creating more washing up with the egg poacher you can have the same healthy eggs but with half the hassle, the pan is strong and durable.

This is an amazing product would definitely buy again and recommend to others!

These are dangerous! The water pan is so small that they have to be filled fairly high and as soon as the water boils they boil over into the egg compartments, making a terrible mess. All we could do was pick the whole thing up and through it in the bin. These are probably the worst product that I've ever brought on the internet.
NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE!!

These are fine, it is my third one in as many years. The others suffered at the hands of those who forgot to put water in the dish before trying to poach their eggs! I put a tiny drop of olive oil in the cups and wipe it round before poaching to allow the eggs to slide out when they are ready

I don't normally write reviews but like many other days, this thing has p's me off so much I want to vent and share my frustration. Now this would have been a very good product but they really screwed up on the cup sizes.
The cup sizes are too small, even for normal size eggs (I don't even use larger eggs).
When this happens some of the egg overspills into the water which results into a disastrous breakfaste for me as the water starts bubbling up, the water over flows into the eggs and out of the top flooding the cooker the top. It's really does give you a crappy poached egg experience.
However, I believe that if the cup sizes were bigger, it would be a great product.

Excellent plastic fantastic. Plastic poaching cups are the only way to go. They never stick. Metal "non-stick" cups a great for a month or so then start sticking like crazy. So in this case, cheaper is better. Just don't boil it dry or you will have molten plastic everywhere.
