Product description
Product Description
The new SAPPHIRE HD 7700 series is a new family of graphics cards targeting the enthusiast on a budget and mainstream users looking for increased graphics performance. It is based on the second family of GPU’s from AMD built in its new 28nm process and featuring the highly acclaimed GCN optimised graphics processing architecture.
Doubling the effective bandwidth of previous DisplayPort implementations, DisplayPort 1.2 now includes support for Multi-Stream, allowing you to drive up to four separate monitors from a single DisplayPort 1.2 connector (requires DP1.2 monitors or Multi-Stream compatible hub), Stereoscopic 3D monitor support and adds support for high quality, lossless, 7.1 channel audio formats.
Accelerate the most demanding applications with AMD Stream technology and do more with your PC. AMD Stream Technology allows you to use the teraflops of compute power locked up in your graphics processer on tasks other than traditional graphics such as video encoding, at which the graphics processor is many, many times faster than using the CPU alone.
The new and 28nm GCN Architecture with more efficient process technology puts more transistors in less space, enabling a dramatic increase in Processing Power. Crank the settings, devastate your enemies and bear witness to absurdly high frame rates with AMD Radeon HD7000 series graphics card-DirectX 11 has never looked this good. Maximum setting and crazy performance shouldn’t be a compromise. The AMD Radeon HD7900 Series with the new 28 nm GCN Architecture assures that it’s not.
The next generation of AMD Eyefinity technology is here, featuring all-new support for stereo 3D, universal bezel compensation and brand new display configurations. Face it: the best just got better: The enhancements for AMD Radeon HD7000 series include: Stereo 3D-multi-display stereoscopic 3D support via DisplayPort 16K X 16K maximum display group resolution-output up to 268 megapixels per GPU.
Famous for our exclusive cooling solutions like the award winning Vapor Chamber Cooling technology - Vapor-X, SAPPHIRE's reputation for innovative excellence continues to grow with the introduction of our new dual-extractor technology - Dual-X. Dual-X is a highly efficient multi-heatpipe cooler with dual fans that provide quiet and very cool operation during normal operating conditions, and superb cooling performance even under extreme load.

Works best at 900p, 1080p puts on a little too much extra load, I'm using it in conjunction with a 1440x900 monitor which lets me keep up some higher graphical settings in games while maintaining playable frame-rates. Design wise the plastic cooler has an ok aesthetic but the fan itself is a nice size. It's dual slot as well which is fine in my m-ITX build but seems like they could have stuck with a single-slot card considering how frosty this one stays all the time. It's short length wise which is good for any mini form factor PC build.
The selection of outputs are fine however at this low end you would think they could also have had a VGA out for CRT lovers and poor people, especially considering all the space a dual-slot card gives you to work with. Eyefinity is great tech as always but you won't be gaming on dual-monitors with this card. 3D use is likely limited to watching 3D videos on youtube.
Acceptable in a sub-£400 gaming build. Redundant everywhere else.
In the box it comes with the card (duh), a driver CD, some cards congratulating you on buying an AMD product, a DVI to VGA adapter and a Molex 4-pin to 6-pin adapter. AMD say you need at least a 450W PSU in order to use this card and I would agree. It has its own power slot on the back for a six pin connector, I don't have a very modern PSU so I needed that adapter in the box, so don't worry if you don't know what a 6pin cable looks like!
It has (or at least Sapphire's Ghz version (this one)) one HDMI port, one DVI port and a strange third port called a mini-display port, no idea where you would use it but useful i am sure.
It is the GHz edition as I mentioned before, which means it comes pre-overclocked, therefore, there is no need to OC this yourself, though you can if you so desire. It is PCI-e 3.0 compatible (and if someone asks, yes you can use it on a PCI-e 2.0 or older slot, don't worry. It is also a double slot card so a little hefty (and yes, it will fit in your case). It also has support for up to 6 monitors through the Mini display port via a daisy link chain? I will leave you to research that, though for anything more than dual monitors, I would recommend considering a second card. Oh and it does support Crossfire/SLI.
Overall I love this card, it looks good, it's quiet (even if it has just one fan) and it performs. If you (like me) aren't bathing in money and want a Gaming PC which performs on a budget, this is a card I would recommend.
Before this i had a very low end NVidia card, which mad it possible to run some games better than on-board graphics but not much.
popped this one in, the most demanding game i have is Shogun 2, it an on the old card on DX9 and all very low settings, now all on DX11 and ultra.
Im just amazed how good this card is!
The box came with the card, driver CD and documentation as i expected, what i didn't expect was the dvi-vga adapter and power adapter for those who don't have a 6 pin power cable from their PSU, so very handy and saves buying extra adapters or cables separately.
I did have a little difficulty after install due to the remnants of the NVidia drivers but after a thorough clear out and hunt for all things in NVidia and a quick AMD driver re-install everything worked out fine :D
I still haven't sorted it out: FRUSTRATING!
I bought this card with the intentions of buying a second one and running them through crossfire,
I set this card up in minutes and was astonished at how good it really is, I am only running it through VGA to DVI converter and the scaling is great, the games I play on it, such as Hitman: Absolution, Dragon Age 1 & 2 as well as all 3 Mass Effects with visual mods all run at 60fps and above without barely any slowdown, I do get some but I have background programs running, I have hit 120fps on some games and fairly impressed with that, all this is possible even without overclocking the card by even one single step.
I would recommend this card to the budget gamer who wants to play the latest and greatest games at a visual level they can admire without breaking the bank.
All in all, this graphics card is ideal for people now entering pc gaming and want a cheap graphics card that can do a lot, now that the prices are getting lower it is defiantly a steal for anyone. I would recommend this 5 stars.
Note: delivery was very fast got mine within 3 days.
