In my view it isn't much use whilst you are there either. Where there is information it is frequently very superficial. Worse still, although the guide is described as the third edition, published in March 2012, it clearly hasn't been properly updated since the last edition which I believe was published in 2010. For instance, one restaurant is listed as being in Fira when in fact it moved from Fira to another village in 2010. Given that this was one of the top name restaurants on the island I would have expected the details to have been updated for the 2012 edition. The descriptions of some other restaurants in the guide seemed to bear little resemblance to the actuality.
The information about shopping was laughably inaccurate. According to the guide "the level of mediocre merchandise here is remarkably modest" and Oia is described as having shops which are "uniformly of a high standard" which explains why there was so much tourist tat! In Fira "there are a number of quality jewellery outlets with prices that are clearly marked and fairly fixed" although elsewhere it is noted that there are no bargains to be had and the shops are often aimed at the cruise market crowds.Read more ›
Some of the other books on Greek Island such as Lonely Planet, DK and Rough Guide only dedicate a few pages to Santorini. There is no justification to buy it or carry a 300+ page book, if they only dedicate 4 pages to Santorini.
Thomas Cook should have updated their book, as there is no one else competing with them!
The book might be accurate for places to eat or stay (I didn't use it for this), but for cultural interest it proved thoroughly unreliable.

This was an easy to use great little guide - for a beautiful island - although I do recommend you purchase the latest version as a couple of facts were out of date.Published on 10 Aug. 2013 by N. Bardsley
Handy size to carry around. Much better than a "Greek Islands" guide if you're spending a good amount of time on Santorini. Read morePublished on 3 July 2013 by Mr. Jeffrey Harrison
