Santa’s Helper is not your average romance! What started off as a small town girl, back home for the holidays to help her grandparent’s around the farm took a sharp left turn, and never really came back around. Betty’s baking pies when she hears a horrific crash and rushes out to see what happened. The mulit-colored space ship full with aliens of all shapes and sizes is the last thing she expected to stumble onto. While I understand Betty’s shock, I must say there were moments I wanted her to act differently. I know in a short we don’t go to deep with our characters, but I’d have liked to see a bit more from her.
Zec is a humanoid alien who travels the stars running his circus. Yeap you heard me right, he’s a ringmaster from outer space. *grins. I did mention the left turn above. The fantastical imagination of Ms. Munroe is mind boggling. The descriptions were wonderfully weird, and the heat between Zec and Betty was scorching. The healthy peppering of humor lent to the books unique charm.
If you’re looking to read something outside the box, this is a winner. Light hearted and unexpected it made me laugh out loud, and looked at the night sky with wonder.
Zec is the proprietor of the Illoni Interplanetary Traveling Circus on its way to the Delta sytem to do a show when his pilot has the bad misfortune to land them on such a primitive planet. His biggest concern when he notices a woman observing them is that they could end up being part of some primitive sideshow if she alerts others to their presence. The last thing he thought he'd be doing is enlisting her assistance in helping hunt down one of his most important acts, the Banzoonie Brothers, while trying to keep his hands off her.
The fate of Earth and Christmas dinner depend on Betty helping to capture the brothers and get the entire traveling troupe back en route to their next show, but she's captivated by the gorgeous ringmaster and if the world is going to end then dang it shouldn't she get some pleasure out of the whole fiasco? Of course, she never expected the dangerous aliens to abscond with the frozen turkey and oh my, how will her grandparents react to the craziness happening on their own farm?
ALIENS STOLE THE FROZEN TURKEY by Ashlynn Monroe is a quirky romance full of unexpectedly funny moments and personable characters. Zec and Betty might be from very different universes but there's a connection between them that's undeniable - and I loved how he led her to believe the Banzoonie Brothers were dangerous and used that misconception in his favor. Tricky yes, but fun none the less. Ms. Monroe has a vividly wicked imagination that shows in her writing and leaves the reader chuckling and smiling at the end.
