A modern day Romeo and Juliet is the way I would describe this wonderful and heart warming love story, And yep, you guessed it, I cried…….And on more than one occasion.
I can’t begin to imagine what someone like Mack goes through with this dreadful disease, her story is gut wrenching but very touching.
How do you let someone get close to you and love you when you can’t love yourself? And how do you hide it from your family when they can see the effect it’s having on your body? If it wasn’t for Tyler and his touching experience I don’t think anyone could have helped Mack. Tyler’s attitude and how he didn’t nag at Mack probably saved this young woman’s life.
This is probably one of the hardest reviews I have had to write for a number of reasons,
1, Everytime I start to write about certain parts of the book I well up (total cry baby I know!)
2, I don’t want to give too much away, I want you to read it for yourself.
And 3, Shelly can tell the story far better than me
This touching story will have you grabbing for the tissues. Not only did I cry, A LOT but I also laughed. This story is touching in more ways than one and will leave you warm and fuzzy inside. It deals with real drama and things that I couldn’t even imagine happening to me.
One of the best books I have read recently and if this is Shelly’s standard of writing I shall be one-clicking her other books!
A VERY emotional………. 4*

When I started I never intended to read every single page I was planning on reading some and skimming some. That little plan of mine went right out the window after I read the first chapter. I was entranced and intrigued as the first half of story hit very had to home. Mackenzie Deeks is suffering with eating disorders, triggered by stress and lack of control over situations in her life. At school she is a loner who stays out of the way vying to be invisible.
However Tyler Redding notices her from the moment he laid eyes on her, he wants her he also sees the struggle and all she is drowning in. He recognize from personal experience and knows she needs help.
"I want her to get better, I really do. But mess or not- I just want her"~Tyler
Tyler,Tyler ohh boy I don't think Amazing comes close to describing him, he was perfect kind, sweet and loving in every way.
"I will always be a son she can be proud of. I will always give her those little milestones moments."~Tyler
She is also very drawn to Tyler in ways she is yet to understand
"For some inexplicable reason, Tyler is the only one I see"~Mack
They develop a budding relationship, that makes her forget her troubles and want to do better.
Then comes the dramatic moment where they are ripped apart. That was one of the best parts of the book because after that, I read like a bat out of hell on speed I was no longer aBle to take notes or copy quotes. No I was too engulfed in the story.
During there period of physical separation they both went through major growth and development. Tyler grew into a beast of a man and Mack worked on herself over coming her eating disorder and focusing on the positives in her life.Read more ›

For me, the romance aspect of this book takes a back seat to how well the author deals with the issues of multiple eating disorders and the impact of divorce on teenage children. Read morePublished on 27 Aug. 2013 by ICW2012
