How Much Can You Store?
Choosing the right capacity very much depends on the type of file you want to store. Full HD2 videos, for instance, take up much more room than a simple snapshot. Music files vary in size depending on the format they're saved in. To help you make the right selection, this matrix uses typical file sizes to illustrate how much each capacity is likely to store.
11GB = 1,000,000,000 bytes. Actual user storage less.
2Full HD (1920x1080x30fps) and 3D support may vary based upon host device, file attributes and other factors. See manufacturer’s website for additional information.
3Card only. Up to 45MB/s read speed; up to 45MB/s write (up to 30MB/s write speed for 16GB). Based on internal testing; performance may be lower depending upon host device. 1 megabyte (MB) = 1 million bytes.
†UHS Speed Class 1 designates a performance option designed to support real time video recording in UHS-I enabled host devices.
‡See product packaging and manufacturer’s website for additional information and limitations.
*Ordinary cards up to 5MB/s write speed. 1MB=1,000,000 bytes.

Some background info that you may find helpful. For any given memory device, there are two speed specifications that are provided by the manufacturer and these are namely, the read and write speed. The faster the read speed the more rapid is the rate of data transfer to your computer. The higher the write speed the faster the images are saved onto the memory card. A Speed Class 2 translates to write speeds of 2MB per sec. This is the sustained writing speed as opposed to the maximum instantaneous write speed.
You may come across UHS (Ultra High Speed) symbol and this also indicates the minimum sustained writing speed. UHS is the fastest performance available on the market today. Currently, there are two types of UHS classifications: UHS-I Cards, write speed of 10MB/s and UHS-II write speed of 30MB/s. It is worth mentioning that UHS Speed Class is designed for UHS devices only. Refer to the image below.
I've used other brand UHS Speed Class-I cards in the past and I found that during the shooting process, on occasions you can experience dropout or jitter. I have not experienced any such problems with the Sandisk extreme cards.
There are plenty of cards out there that will do the job if you are just shooting standard photos or even capturing standard or HD quality videos. It is worth noting that image quality is unaffected by the type of memory card used. However using a low speed (say class 2) will process the information more slowly. It may also be less reliable and may corrupt you data more readily when used in high demanding applications.
I purchased this item at full price. If the product is unworthy of a good review, I think it is unfair to leave positive feedback as this can mislead potential buyers. I hope you found the review helpful. Please click on the “Yes” button below.
After another month the issue got worse and whole folders went missing. I did a reformat and the card worked again.
Coming up to 3 months the card would refuse to hold more than about 7Gig before corrupting files. I tried it in various devices to confirm this.
After 3 months the card couldn't be written to, but it would still read ok.
I tried re-formatting and the recovery options in SanDisk rescue pro but that just confirmed the card could not be written to.
Returned to Amazon for a refund. A real shame as I got this for £37 as part of a special offer and I can't currently get another for that price.
NB. I am editing this review as the card failed on me in a month, My card is no more detectable, I was viewing photos and using Windows Movie maker and suddenly card stopped working, Contacted SanDisk customer support and I am returning this card.
I am taking away two stars because I lost my one day of photo shoot
I'd had a previous Micro SD card in my camera and I noticed that when I would take continuous shots for actions after the camera had banged out a dozen shots then I had to wait several seconds as the camera wrote the data to the card. You get used to the time period this takes.
When I put this in I had a noticeable improvement in the time I had to wait before the camera came back on line and was ready to take more pictures. So most definitely it is an improvement on many other SD cards I have used over the years.
I was pleasantly surprised to find the quality of the Sandisk far outmatched the Samsung. Whereas the Samsung would lead to recordings being cut-off midway, the SanDisk had no such issues with the same camera. This would suggest that not all class-10 cards are equal.
Does this matter to you if you don't have a GoPro camera? It depends. If you're just using your card to store files such as in an e-reader, it shouldn't matter too much. The speed rating is about the same. The difference is that the SanDisk produces reliable streaming of recording and playback, which means with anything that requires a constant stream of data to be recorded out (audio and video recording, for example), the SanDisk Extreme will have the edge of other competing products. So if you use a video camera or audio device, you'll the find the SanDisk the better bet.
The pricing is expensive, but its not extraordinary when compared to the competition (and of course the technology is stunning.) Recommended - but only for people who need the reliability. For those who are just recording out files there are cheaper options out there.
What's in the box:
- SanDisk 32GB Micro SD
- SanDisk Micro SD to SD Adapter
+ Super fast
+ Simply Excellent
Conclusion; A super fast MicroSD, Excellent for 4K video recording.
