This is the top model from SanDisk it is very fast (fastest I've used and tested to date) but it does attract a price premium and for mobile devices the speeds are probably overkill.
I tested the card via a USB 3 card reader and got the following results:
Read speed: 90MB/s
Write speed: 79MB/s
There was a slight variation in speeds but only a few MB/s and trying out a few different card readers gave very close results.
Dropping files across yielded similar results to the benchmark tests I ran, but it is worth remembering not many devices phones or tablets can take advantage of such break neck speeds. For dual users those who might use these cards in faster cameras it's worth considering.
If you don't need the super speeds the Extreme Plus model offers a similar read speed, but a somewhat reduced 60MB/s write speed (still plenty fast) and a bit more appealing price wise too.
The card has the usual resistance to X-ray, water, temperature as expected I've never had a problem with a micro SD card durability wise but it's not a bad thing to have a bit of protection. It's an excellent card but it does attract a bit of a premium
So far it has performed well.
It is a premium brand at a good price and was delivered promptly.
This was previously retailing at a much higher price c £70 mark so when it was reduced to its present price, it was seen as a 'grab it whilst you can' bargain. So I took the plunge and ordered it.
Delivery was fine with no problems at all.
On placing into my Passport the card has to be reformatted (which isn't the fault of the card). Once this was sorted it worked brilliantly. VERY fast download when ripping CD's onto the Passport and with the benefit of utterly no lag when accessing tracks/albums etc. It is often said there is no difference between a premium Micro SD card like this and some cheapo bargain one at a third of the price. Well in my experience the money paid out is always worthwhile and in this case I have benefitted with much faster rewrite speeds and no lag when accessing files/tracks etc on my phone. I've subsequently changed to a BlackBerry Priv The real benefits of high performance cards like this are fully realised with 4K Video and whilst I don't do much 4K video it is nice to have the capability in reserve.
Based on several testing I performed with different devices – Nikon and Olympus camera, Hitachi camcorder - this SanDisk Extreme Pro card manages to deliver the promised read and write speeds, which was expected due to its rating Class 10/ or by newer rating system UHS-1.
Be advised that if you are not able to achieve such speeds you should make sure you are using USB 3.0 port (available as additional PCI card or notebook adapter) and/or that your recording equipment supports UHS bus interface. Therefore make sure these requirements are fulfilled in order to get most from this card.
This card such as all the SanDisk Extreme Pro cards comes bundled with RescuePro Deluxe, useful software that will be handy in case of need to recover accidentally deleted data on your card. Additionally, be advised that card magnet proof ability is not stated in documentation, while can be confirmed its waterproof and X-ray proof features.
SanDisk Extreme Pro 16 GB SDHC is worthy solution which can be recommended if you need card with extremely fast writing speed, on the other hand not having too big demands on storage size. Given that I support approach that is better to have more cards of equal capacity to ensure that in the event of failure you do not lose all of the recorded material, I can certainly recommend this card.
