I think enough have already been said about the insanely fast Sandisk Extreme Pro and multiple benchmarks have proven it's superiority over most of the similairy priced SATA III SSD drives. So I won't bother with that. What I'd say is this: unless you are moving very large files on a regular basis between different SSDs; you may not notice much of a difference in comparison to a cheaper MX100. If you are moving from a mechanical disk or will be copying files to a "lesser" interface medium such as mechnical disks, USB, external drives, you may be better off with a cheaper model as you will be constrained by your write speed anyway. Benchmarks are synthetic and the actual advantages may not translate well in real life.
For me, moving from an older X25-M I have to say Windows boot up is not significantly faster; however transferring 30Gb+ files between SSDs is an absoloute God send. You'd have to do that on quite a regular basis to justify the cost and time savings. For my scenario, I felt that it's worth it. The 10 year warranty is an absoloute monster and is probably the best you'll get from any manfuacturer and is a testiment to their confidence in their QA. This is my 3rd SanDisk SSD purchase and I am yet to face any issues. Overall, a worthy purchase.

I spent a lot of time reading reviews.

I use a mid 2012 MacBook Pro, mostly for work, but carry a lot of data. My hard drive has to be encrypted. Anyway, I bought this and an inatek aluminium case - you need something to connect this SSD to your computer so you might as well buy something that will house your old drive. I bought this because it was well reviewed, from a company I trust, and with a ten year warranty.

I also considered getting a new Samsung Pro but didn't think I would notice the very slight increase in performance.

All I can say is that it has revolutionised my computer experience. Everything is instantaneous now. In particular, I need to use some Windows programmes and have Parallels and Windows 7 installed. That used to be a two or three minute wait, now it loads in about ten seconds.

Installation was simple. I used Carbon Copy Cloner. It is free and very straightforward, though I had about 680Mb and it took about 8 hours to clone. Still it happened first time and without a glitch. Don't forget to buy a set of Torx screwdrivers - the Lindy ones on Amazon are great. In fact, that's all you need if you buy an inatek case as that comes with a perfectly good screwdriver which will let you open up your Macbook.

This is the single most effective thing I have ever done to a computer. The speed is now fantastic. You will not regret doing this.

I replaced my old 2.5" SataII 5400RPM 512Gb HDD in my hp 4340s laptop with this very fast 2.5" SataIII 960Gb SSD. If you want to do the same you will need to know how. I had windows 7 pro & also a mac OS on different partitions of the same HDD set up so when I boot up I can choose to run either O/S. I thought that I could simply clone the entire drive onto the new SSD using a Corsair cloning kit which cost me £20, came with a software disk & USB3.0 to SataIII cable/adapter. I connected it & ran the software which cloned everything except the bootloader(s) so it didn't work. I then did some reseach by watching an awesome youtube video called "Clonezilla Disk Imaging And Cloning Utility Live USB Boot Disk Tutorial" & learnt how to do it properly with free software, but at least the USB3.0 to SataIII cable came in useful as there was no other way to connect the new drive in order to make it a clone of the old one. I also needed a USB drive/stick & I happened to have a 16 Gb one already. I then downloaded a free program called 'Rufus' (latest version 2.8) which lets you turn a USB stick into a bootable operating system drive to run the free cloning software. I ran Rufus2.8 in windows & had to choose an O/S called 'GRUB(SysLinux)'. It will ask you which one you want when you run the application. It's the 4th one from the bottom of the list. With the bootable USB stick ready I then downloaded a free program called 'YUMI' (latest version) which lets you put programs/ISOs onto bootable USB sticks, & I downloaded 'clonezilla' as an iso file. I then ran YUMI to put clonzilla on the bootable USB stick & with the new SSD connected to the USB3.0 port & the USB stick in another USB port (USB3.0 & USB2.0 are backwards compatable) & the old HDD still in the laptop.Read more ›

I bought 4 of these and ran them in RAID 0 on my ASUS Maximus VIII Gene Z170 MicroATX Board. I am only using 4GB of 2400Mhz DDR4 ram at the moment of this benchmark till I upgrade it. This benchmark can be improved drematically by changing a coupld options but I don't have the time.
