This replaced an HTC Desire from a few years ago - it was cutting edge then but, getting the Alpha, shows how much the cutting edge has moved. The Alpha's screen is good and it navigates fine. It has fixed memory, 32Gb, without memory card slot though, in the innards there appears to be an outline of where the memory card slot could be. However, with 32 Gb and Cloud, I have enough capacity. The battery lasts couple of days, three if phone not in much use and in strong signal (both phone and WiFi) area. The call quality is good. I'm glad I bought this phone and negotiated the price of SIM only contract.

Great phone,well built but be warned there appears a problem with the 3 network on this phone where text messages fail to appear right away then all arrive at once up to a day later. A fix is to turn off 4g and go with 3g only. Already sent back a phone thinking it was a faulty handset. Hope this helps.

Seems to charge quickly,very light,slim,beautiful build quality(photos don't do it justice),very quick,good call quality,remarkably decent speaker,great camera and the display is beautiful.The display is very crisp,312ppi which is well above retina.I was worried about it being only 720p,reviewers saying edges look fuzzy,pentile pixel arrangements etc,but text looks super smooth,super sharp.I had even toyed with getting the S5 because of comments about the display,so glad I didn't.Really wanted a lighter,smaller phone that didn't have plastic sides and look really like a case might enhance its beauty.After only a relatively short time with an amoled display I don't think I could go back to lcd,it's really that good.The fingerprint scanner works at least 9 times out of 10,rarely has it not worked,and when it's failed I think I swiped too fast.The Samsung skin is a brighter take on Android and is simple yet bold,so much is made of heavy skins and vanilla Android being a holy grail,however it would be very dull if every phone we bought was stock Android.The power of the cpu and 2GB ram ensure this phone simply flies along.Talking of speed,the wifi on ac is incredibly fast.Battery life is ok,it's not got the remarkable Sony stamina software,which must be about the best for extending battery life.However a decent average 11 hour day at work is easily accomplished,very heavy users can get the Samsung Power Accumulator,or buy a different phone.Megapixels don't always equate to a good camera,but the Alpha's really is excellent,the best I have seen and definitely better than my Sony and Google phones.One thing put me off other phones,most of us view our pics in 16.9,on our camera,TV etc.Many phones reduce the pixel count if we choose to shoot in 16.Read more ›

After going into The Carphone Warehouse and EE and being quoted £450+ to ACTUALLY get the phone for £320 is incredible. The phone is flawless, sleek, stylish, the processor and screen is fantastic and the camera is out of this world. Love the metalic finish! Huuuuge improvement from the S3 LTE.

I purchased this on a thursday and by the next tuesday it had arrived! The seller was friendly and very helpful. Went out of their way to get it shipped to me for my birthday quickly without an extra charge.

However there is one small thing i have noticed and that has raised a little concern/doubt.. The charger which came was seperate from the samsung box. The headphones, adaptor, usb cable and headphones are white when i ordered the black phone (for those who are familiar with samsung, they supply the colour headphones ect to the same colour of the phone!) This does make me wonder. But i'm not too bothered. For the money who can complain? Will be purchasing a charger seperately as the usb cable is very short but still. So far so good :) Thankyou!

Performance acceptable, good screen, looks and feels good, fingerprint scanner reliable. However the battery life is dire. With battery saver enabled and background data disabled I can just about get a day and a half out of it. I am avery light user. I have bought an extended capacity battery with a slightly enlarged back cover, and would consider this an absolute necessity for most users. The fact Samsung make such a kit suggests the maker knows about the concern.
