I got this phone as I wanted something small that can also check email and webpages at a push on the move, which it handles well enough.

I wouldn't use it to play games or extensive webpage viewing of course.

The keypad is quite good considering how tiny the buttons are. Speech input works very well and I try to use that where possible.

The only problem I have with it is the battery life. It seems to run out of battery after a day and a half, even with no apps running, bluetooth off, and little to no usage.

Apart from the battery, I think you get a lot of spec for your pound with this.

I previously had the Samsung Galaxy Ace which I liked, but when that got water damaged (which is too easy to do with a so-called smart phone these days -- apparently even bathroom steam can ruin them!) I couldn't afford to get it replaced so I went with the Galaxy Young as it was on offer at the time.

    Good points:

cheaper end of the smart phone spectrum
internet when connected to a wireless connection is speedy enough for normal use
size -- it is small and pocket-sized neat
touch screen seems sensitive enough (have had it only for one month though)

    Critical points:

Size of touch keyboard: I dont have particularly 'fat fingers', in fact I would say I actually have slim fingers! But I still find the touch pad impossible to type a text without lots of typos, the letters are simply way too close together -- and I'm normally a quick typer, but i spend most of the time deleting and re-typing very slowly instead.

The camera: the image quality is actually pretty awful, I mean it's fine for sending a quick picture message to another phone on, but if you bring them up on a screen the resolution is terrible. Oh, and there's no flash with this camera either, just so you know! I hadn't realised that before I bought it.

The phone-call quality (surely a basic for a phone!!): A number of my friends have said i sound like i'm talking to them from inside a cupboard or on a train when i'm on the phone to them. On my part, i can hear everyone clearly, but from a listeners perspective, doesn't seem the best.

I really feel that though it's branded as a 'cheap' smartphone, it's just not worth the price, I mean if it was £40/50 maybe, but £80, no way.

This initially was a really good purchase and it works fine as a phone (plus all the packaging was good and the phone looks nice). However when trying to download Apps like Whatsapp and others from the App Store as this handset seems to be US registered it won't let you download certain Apps that are for the European market (ie, most Apps that you actually want). This is a real pain in the a$$ and probably means we'll have to pay to get it unlocked which means it was no cheaper than buying this phone at our local phone shop. Very annoying for a phone that in all other respects was a good deal and which looks the part.

I'll start by saying I didn't buy this from Amazon but it'd be wrong of me not to warn people.

I'll get straight into it then. They claim that this phone can take up to a 64gb micro sd - it can! unfortunately it plays only maybe 5% of the music I put on there, regardless of format it seems completely random. I've used all sorts of media apps and all i get is 'this format can not be played' I've even converted the files to different formats and tried but the same results. I've tried other memory cards and the same results occur.

It plays no video whatsoever. Again, I've used allsorts of media apps and converted the files to different formats. Nothing.

It is very fussy when displaying pictures - same story as the music and video.

I took this little beauty on holiday and used the camera to take pictures and videos. It says the pictures can not be displayed. It won't recognise the pictures from it's own camera! "No worries" I said "I'll transfer them when I get home" all I got when I got home was 150 corrupted files.

Here's the best part - the other day it decided to completely wipe my memory card and make it unrecognised in any device.

    So that's that really. Beware!

For less than £100 you won't get a better smartphone than this.

It's not perfect (the camera is good but not brilliant, the screen size is big enough but not huge), but it does everything you will want it to do - it's the latest Android version and it's a quad processor.

Easily get 3 years of good daily use out of this phone.
