Carry who you are in a portable portfolio

There's a new way to have your personal and professional data on you all the time. Ever heard of the T1? It's the portable SSD designed with V-NAND technology. We've carefully taken the powerful performance of an internal SSD, added the best security you can find and put it in a cool looking shell roughly the size of business card. The T1 is the perfect portable portfolio for your life in the digital world we live in.

Imagine if you never had to wait on your data

As you go through your day, why wait for data when you don't have to? With our T1 portable SSD you get superfast read-write speeds of up to 450 MB/s driven by TurboWrite Technology. So you don't have to wait anymore. When tested head-to-head against a comparable external HDD the T1 demonstrated a data transfer speed 3 to 7 times faster. This means you save every second of your precious time when moving or retrieving files like movies, photos or applications.

Bring style into your digital life

Let your portable portfolio be an expression of your trend setting style. The T1's sleek premium design is accentuated by its slim compact design, primed for chic portability. Plus, it's been designed with laser patterning and black chrome metalizing finishing. How cool does that sound? Even the T1 custom cable has been designed for style with its jet black colour.

A revolution in portable performance and reliability

You grow old, but your data storage doesn't have to. The T1's ground breaking V-NAND technology brings a new level of performance and reliability that had been impossible with conventional planar NAND memory. With the V-NAND technology, T1 will ensure revolutionary performance and reliability in portable data storage.

Take your data wherever you go

You should have immediate access to your data any time you want it. Now, you can keep your data with you at all times thanks to the TI's compact, portable design. At 71.0x9.2x53.2 mm you can slide into your pocket, wallet or bag and you're good to go. Data storage has never been so portable.

What a great piece of kit. Fast, sleek, and quick to set up.

Installed the SAT drivers, registered, and was on my way.

Pros:
Extremely fast
Absolutely tiny
Great quality cable

Cons:
Plastic as all hell
Extremely short cable (circa 3" - fine for me, but others might need a longer one)
Connection between cable and SSD/USB Port isn't solid or flush (there's a little wiggle room - but that's really nit-picking)

[Update 1:

On my Mac, this beautiful little thing can run Wins 7 and 10 as well as Ubuntu as virtual drives (via Parallels) with ease (although obviously Windows isn't running *super* fast or anything, but only a slight lag, while Ubuntu runs almost perfectly).]

[Update 2:

Data transfer speeds are really slow on my Windows 7 PC having set this bad boy up for Mac (circa 30-40MBps - mirroring another user's difficulties). However, I think you might be able to avoid this if there is a way to run the set up on both machines and if you don't format it (but I wasn't able to try that - needed to format for Time Machine Backups). If this isn't possible, register this on the OS you are going to use most frequently!]

This thing is tiny! It comes with two files on the hard drive, one setup for mac and one for pc. You run through it which takes about 30 seconds to install a driver and rename it. Then it's ready to go!
I saw a review complaining of this process. It's 30 seconds worth of time. It's fine.
Seems to work as advertised so far!

Needed a quality drive asap. This was not it. Upon loading the device on my Mac (Osx 10.7.5 which is within the system requirements) and installing the supplied software I was prevented from getting past the registration stage thus keeping the drive in a locked state (see screen enclosed). Cutting a long story short, I rang Samsung and they told me to ring Hanaro (presumably manufacturing the T1 SSD for Samsung?). Hanaro had no idea why it was happening (and either cut me off or hung up accidentally and gave me no apology when I rang back which annoyed me a bit). They told me to set it up on a PC and the put it back in the mac as it is a software fault not a hardware fault. The PC let me register the device but it still gave the same error message upon installing back on the Mac. Frustrating as I needed this for an urgent job. Sending back to Amazon.

Not a good implementation of USB/SSD technology. requires proprietary software to run on mac, and also installs kernel tasks without approval. not my cup o tea, tried running this as a standard drive and formatting to exfat, in that mode it gives 40mb/s each way according to blackmagic disk test. the drive also wiped itself empty at one point with no warning, so i wouldnt recommend it for backups.
returned to amazon and replaced with a samsung evo 850 and an inatek enclosure. plug and play, no software, and solid 450mb/s both ways in any conditions, for about a hundred quid less. just a less elegant package.

I bought this to act as a fast external hard drive for the Xbox One. Certainly does that, game load and save times are much improved. Also load times of levels are improved and issues such as stuttering in Fallout 4 when loading new levels and weapons seem to have resolved.

There is only 1 issue with using this drive for the Xbox. It does not work out the box. You have to simply plug it into a Windows PC, open the drive, run the Samsung program on it. Then you can plug it into the Xbox and it will be recognised and formatted as required.

The only reason I've marked it down a star is that it's expensive.

Bought this as I have switched to a small light weight windows 10 laptop without a hard drive (just a small SSD internally) so I needed portable storage space for some bulk data.
I never use the in built security on data sticks (they fail too often) so I decided to do the same with this and immediately formated it to NTFS and reading other reviews I am glad I did.
The formatting took a bit of time, but that was mostly due to me using my old laptop which is slow anyway.
On the new laptop with up to date USB this drive is quick and does exactly what is required. I have also used it with my portable Verbatim media share and it works really well, low power drain and I can access the drive from my Android tablet and phone.
Plugged it into the TV to record and it did this without issue.
I travel a lot so this is a great bit of kit as it's extremely light and small. Should it be metal cased? I don't see why if you are going to have valuable data on it then treat it with respect and keep it in a protective gadget bag/pouch. If you leave these things (data sticks included) to rattle about in the bottom of a bag or your pocket then you get what you deserve.
Only gripe is the USB connection on the drive is not a generic one so you can only use the cable it comes with but this does provide a more stable connection than, say, a mini USB would, so I can see why they have done this. The cable is a flat ribbon type and very good quality and if you have to leave the drive 'dangling' it's not a problem because the drive is so light and the cable strong and stiff.
I'm not nerdy enough to measure the data transfer speeds on my kit but it's a hell of a lot faster than any internal mechanical hard drive I have in any of my kit.
