Not being a gamer I've actually used this netbook to replace my PC and it has been working fine running the likes of Spotify, Firefox, Microsoft Office and downloading all at once. Setting it up to run using a large monitor and wireless keyboard and mouse hasn't been a problem and the change in speed between this and my old PC is hardly noticeable.
The keyboard and touchpad are a pleasure to use, although getting used to a slightly smaller keyboard takes a bit of practice! The 3 USB ports are conveniently located (2 on 1 side 1 on the other). As I mentioned the speed has been great and the speakers perform better than my larger portable ones. The battery life appears good although I've mostly been running it off the mains. The wireless internet connection has been perfect and far better than my previous PC which had an external aerial.
It even came with a 1 year free trail of Microsoft Office which I was unaware of, oh and it's close to silent when it's switched on. I'd love to pick a fault with this laptop but for running the usual programmes like I-Player, Firefox, Spotify and Microsoft Office its perfect, even when connected up to a separate keyboard and screen it shows no sign of slowing.
If this is what you're looking for then buy it!
It is tiny - not bigger or thicker than a book - but it has a good keyboard and a very clear matte screen. The charger is much smaller than on our other laptops. The battery seems to last a long time - I haven't yet tried how long. The n140 is very easy to set up. It arrived yesterday; after charging the battery I managed to be on the internet via our home wifi within an hour.
there is a decent amount of software included: microsoft office (for 1 year i believe).
There is a neat little card reader on the front; I plugged the card from my camera in and could immediately watch my photos without further fuss.
The bag that comes with the netbook is a nice neoprene type bag, so no need to rush and buy another one.
What I liked less: the netbook comes with a cd with drivers' software but the n140 has no cd drive?! Samsung needs to rethink that and give the software on a card if that is possible.
Although the netbook is not slow at all, i think i will increase the ram memory from 1gb to 2gb, as this doesn't cost much and might improve the performance. unfortunately i couldn't find the n140 on the crucial website.
i suppose i will have to wait until they include it.
Initially, the fonts on the screen were much too small; I managed to solve this partially; some text still appears in tiny letters, such as the n140 manual available on the desktop.
At first the speakers didn't work. I tried looking for help on the Samsung website but that didn't work. Eventually, the speakers woke up after I reset them a few times.
My only real criticism of the n140 is its touchpad, which is tiny, recessed and the click areas at the bottom are hard to control. Typing is fine, but the touchpad is irritating. i am sure that I will get used to it, but it must be posssible to design a better touchpad.
All in all, a very nice little computer for very good value.
