Samsung Galaxy S III

Designed for humans

Effortlessly smart and intuitively simple, Samsung Galaxy S III is a new smartphone concept. It is the most human mobile device ever made.
It sees, listens, responds. It's personal. But it's for everyone. And it marks an incredible new generation of mobile phones.

Inspired by nature: the GALAXY S III's minimal and organic design is reflected in its smooth and non-linear lines of the device. Its human-centric nature provides an ergonomic and comfortable experience with enhanced usability.

With the Samsung Galaxy S III, you can view content like never before on a 4.8 inch HD Super AMOLED display, whilst an 8MP camera and an 1.9MP front camera offer a variety of intelligent camera features and face recognition related options so you can capture all moments easily and instantly. The Samsung Galaxy S III is powered by Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and full of intuitive technology, delivering a uniquely personalised mobile experience.

Smart

Smart thinking - Adapting to the way you surf

Smart Stay

With the innovative Smart Stay feature, GALAXY S III automatically recognizes when you are looking at the phone, whether it is to read an e-book or browse the web. The front camera looks deep into your eyes and maintains a bright display for continued viewing pleasure. What a bright idea.

Direct Call

Samsung GALAXY S III even knows when you want to talk. When you are messaging someone and decide to call them instead, simply lift the phone to your ear and Direct call will dial their number for you. No more fumbling through call logs or contacts. Let GALAXY S III do the work.

Pop-up Play
Pop-up Play

Picture-in-picture technology lets you watch a video and do other tasks, like sending emails, or surfing the web at the same time.

S-Beam

Sharing your content with friends nearby should be easy, quick, and even fun. S Beam lets you bond instantly so you can transfer documents, contacts, pictures, music, videos, you name it. Just put the backs of your phones together, connect, share and enjoy.

What makes it more human?

Designed for humans isn't just a marketing headline. It really does sum up how you'll experience a phone that is unlike anything out there. Here are the key features:

Social tag
Social Tag

Now it's even easier to keep track of friends and loved ones. Social Tag lets you link the faces in your photo album with their social media streams. Once it's set, all you have to do is look at their pictures and you'll see their current status appear.

Best Photo
Best Photo

The GALAXY S III can take first of eight shots at once and then recommends the best one. Increasing the chance of a great shot every time.

S-Voice-2
S-Voice

Why not get a response from your phone? Tell it to wake up! Even better, you can tell GALAXY S III to turn off the alarm for a few minutes and let yourself sleep a bit more. Answer your phone (or reject a call), turn your music up (or down) and even tell the camera to load.

Smart Alert

When you pick up your phone, wouldn't it be nice if it let you know what has been happening since you've been gone? The GALAXY S III knows you came back and gives you a brief vibrating nudge to inform you about missed calls and new messages. How thoughtful is that?

Allshare Play
AllShare Play

There's another way to share content on various devices. It's called AllShare Play, and it lets us work together through the magic of DLNA and Wi-Fi Direct, giving us remote access to documents and multimedia files when we work on a different screen somewhere else.

AllShare Cast

Wouldn't it be nice to mirror your phone display onto a big screen wirelessly? Now you can. AllShare Cast lets you do it, and it's perfect for gamers. After the game you are playing appears on the screen, you can even use your phone's buttons as a controller with gestures.
No wires, no fuss.

Buddy Photo-share
Buddy Photo-share

It couldn't be easier to manage and share your photos. The phone recognizes faces and links those for you, using your group profiles for guidance. Now you're once touch away from sharing with everyone instantly.

4.0 out of 5 stars Why is everyone so amazed by this phone? 3 May 2013
    By Graham
    Colour Name:Black|Verified Purchase
My Samsung Galaxy S2 got water into it and was playing up, so I decided to look around, I read reviews about this phone and could believe it was as good as everyone was saying.

I have to admit though, I like Samsung phones and it was either this, The S4, or the Iphone. I have the Ipad and I am disappointed at the integration of Apple products with non apple devices and how difficult it is to get media off of them onto other things. So it was a bit of no-brainer.

I bought this phone because the S4 only seemed to have gadgets which I would never use and cost so much more....

Now, about this phone.... I have been disappointed because the reviews make it sound like its amazing, and its not. It the same as my S2 really with a few small additions, the main ones being:

    1. Slightly Faster (but not much)
    2. Display more clear (but not much)
    3. Display slightly bigger (but not much)
    4. Battery lasts slightly longer (but not much)

The only real gadget I find useful is the one where you look away from the phone and it switches itself off... this can be more annoying than good though if you look back and have to insert the passcode lock all over again just because you got distracted by something! - However, in the long run, its a good battery saving measure.

Some annoying things you need to bear in mind:

    1. Screen protectors do not stick on the edges, maybe because the screen is not entirely flat, so they come off quite easily

    2. Its not very loud when talking to people on the phone (not that I do this much lol)

Main problem, and this problem exists with all phones, not just this one... you can't see it in the sunlight! - even in the highest brightness.....

4.0 out of 5 stars The android side is the sunnier side 20 April 2013
    Colour Name:Black
I'm a new user of android coming from iOS and it is a breath of fresh air. All of the features I jail broke for on iOS are here in android. The only problems were with music. Syncing music from iTunes to your phone is impossible unless you buy iSyncr and Rocket player from the Google play store. But other than that, I love the speed and control of android. Typing with Swype (as I'm doing right now) is a massive blast too. I couldn't go back. The s3 is a beautiful device. The touch keys can be annoying at first and the placement of the power button was jarring for me while just starting out, but the battery life is easy to save and the screen is just gorgeous. Yes it's better than retina. I've constantly used it for an hour on Wi-Fi without locking it, with a game of real racing 3 squeezed in there and it's on 85%. Overall, the phone is amazing and is well worth the money, even with the s4 looming around the corner.

PS. My phone ordered from smart deals came with T-Mobile bloatware which sent annoying notifications even though I'm an o2 user. You can turn off these but it's jarring to get T-Mobile bloatware on my new phone.

5.0 out of 5 stars So much love for this 14 April 2014
    Colour Name:Black|Verified Purchase
For someone who didn't like touchscreen devices i had to take the plunge with this when my old nokia n68 (i think) croaked and was unrepairable

BEAUTIFUL - fluid and very fast

one issue though i suggest you learn how to kill apps quickly and be used to charging almost daily as it will eat your battery and if you purchase a spare battery as i did get used to resetting all your tones and settings as sometimes on battery change it looses the customisations you have made

2.0 out of 5 stars It felt like it was a fake copy of the real thing 26 July 2015
    Colour Name:Black|Verified Purchase
It worked OK as a phone for calling, texting and taking photos, but it would not download any apps. It felt like it was a fake copy of the real thing. Guess more fool us for buying a phone over the Internet.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better value than the S4 11 Jun. 2013
    By David
    Colour Name:Black|Verified Purchase
I did wait until the S4 launch to see how much these sold for, but was disappointed when they were approximately £580 (they are now a bit less than this maybe £475 to £530) compared to an S3 for £330. So I bought an S3 as they were clearly the market leader.
I am really pleased with the phone and don't have any complaints.
I did have a couple of niggles as it wasn't shipped until a week after it was ordered, however the supplier TopT did then ship for next day delivery. The earth pin on the mains charger then broke and TopT shipped a replacement without a problem. This charger seems fine and was a genuine Samsung charger.

The phone supplied is not BLACK as advertised it's BLUE!! Having bought this as an emergency purchase, it turned out to be virtually unusable due to it not functioning properly, lost calls, no signal, etc.etc and following investigations by my service provider, the phone is not European compatible. Some days later having received an S3 from my insurer's, my phone problems were immediately over, the phone supplied is rubbish and has cost me many hours of aggravation!!
