5.0 out of 5 stars Big is better!! 5 Nov. 2011
By Andreas Iacovou TOP 1000 REVIEWER
I am moving to this phone from a Samsung Galaxy S2 so I thought I knew what to expect, but when I removed the packaging and saw this thing, my jaw dropped.....Its huge!! Now that's not necessarily a bad thing depending on what you want, but my advice is go to a shop and see one before buying because the pictures do not do it justice.

For me the idea is to replace my smartphone (Galaxy S2) and my tablet (HTC Flyer) and just carry one device. Using it as a phone is not my priority, but its good to have the option when required, and if you have a big head and big hands like me then this is actually quite comfortable and looks okay.

Build quality is similar to the Samsung S2, so mainly plastics but nevertheless feels well put together. The battery cover is flimsy plastic but does the job and its unexpectedly light and very very thin.

The star of the show is the screen. This will blow you away when you first see it come on. The S2 screen was beautiful, but the extra inch on this really shows off the Amoled wonderfulness Samsung has created. I think this is the best screen I've ever seen on any mobile device including the iPhone 4. Movies and pictures look stunning and the extra screen space is well looked after by the technology.

The stylus (sorry S-Pen) is clever and works really well although I did experience some lag on occasions. This certainly can't be a hardware limitation given the 1.4ghz dual-core innards and I suspect its the software which should be improved with future updates. Its really not that bad and is a minor gripe.

Samsung have done a good job using the extra screen space, and the included apps look stunning and vibrant and use the space well. Did I mention the screen is amazing...

Battery life is great so far.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stunning Screen - don't pay the rip-off UK price 8 Nov. 2011
By NickB
## Save yourself £100 - buy this from amazon.de currently EUR 528 = £474 ##

I bought this from the amazon.de site to save some money...delivery (EUR 7) was quick 2-3 days.
Use google translate to read the pages and use your normal amazon.co.uk username / password.

Review:

Build quality is good - the back cover once clipped in is solid and has a nice grip to it.

Performance - this is fast - everything feels fairly snappy. The most noticeable difference for me was just downloading and installing applications which seemed to be almost instant.

Stylus is efficient and works well - as per other reviews there is a slight lag (it is noticeable but does not make you want to stop using it). Drawing / Notes applications all seem quite useful. The handwriting recognition works reasonably well.

The screen as per the title is simply stunning - watching videos on this is a joy. The kids have loved watching childrens TV on this via BBC iPlayer.

Due to the decent size of this screen browsing web pages feels more natural - you are not having to scroll and zoom in and out all of the the time. Reading and responding to e-mails is also much easier - with preview on you can see the first few lines of six e-mails at a time.

Battery life - it is still early days (only had the phone for 4 days) but so far it seems pretty good - far better than the stock HTC Desire. I will update this review in a month or two with real world numbers.

Size - I have had a few comments from friends and colleagues on the size of this - it is big.
Coming from a HTC Desire to this phone, the size difference can be a bit daunting.

5.0 out of 5 stars Small tablet or big phone 9 Nov. 2011
Having had 5 windows HTC smart phones and the android Sansung Galaxy S2 this really is the best smart phone todate.
Make no mistake, this phone is HUGE, in fact that is the reaction of everyone who has seen it so far. however it is not fat or heavy, you just need big pockets.

It is an amazing bit of kit. The battery is better than regular smart phones and much better than the Galaxy 2S.
I was expecting an incrementally bigger screen, but this is massively bigger and boy is the experience so much better. For leisure films and clips are great and can be seen clearly, webpages are very very usable and photos are great. For work I take terminal service from my work computer and using thr stylus can use the desktop, just like my desktop in the office. Very powerful.

In fact it is the stylus and having the choice of using it that has made this so much better than the S2. The quick notes and screen capture and anotation are also great features that I now (after 3 days!) use every day.

You can link it to a TV or projector with the HDMI converter, oh, and you can make calls on it as well, but to be honest you do look a bit silly.

If you need a smart phone and are thinking about a tablet, this is the phone to have.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a 'wow' phone.... 14 Nov. 2011
This is unbelievable! On 10% brightness, the colour is even better than cutting age Macbook Pro. If you up the brightness to 80% the colours may burn your eyes!! I am not joking. So real.
Con: Size but as soon as you get use to it, becomes a 'wow' phone and reader.
Equivocal feeling: Battery can easily last usual working hours on one go, if you use push gmail/yahoo and change the sleep setting of wifi (in the advanced menu).
Pros: believe me it is endless!!

After using iPhone since it came out....I am happily using this phone now and have got no doubt that Samsung with Google has defeated Apple (except it's email client). The iOs and retina looks sooo past now. This is not a tablet or phone, it is a blazingly fast beastly machine.
