*Good value for money.
Cons-
There is only really one con to this drive, and that is that older versions shipped with a faulty firmware. This meant that if the S.M.A.R.T. "Identify device" command was issued while data was being written to the drive, a loss of data occurred. As Samsung failed to change the version number on the new firmware that they released, it is impossible to tell which version you have. I have e-mailed Samsung, and they assure me that any drives with a build date after 11-2010 will have the new firmware pre-installed, which mine did.
As all 3 drives I ordered were built on 12-2010, I think Amazon may have cleared their old stock, so you will probably be ok with buying one.
Other than this issue, the drive is excellent.
I know Amazon's packaging of hard drives has come under fire, so I thought I'd comment on that: The drives were each in their own hard, clear plastic case and placed in a cardboard box with foam padding above and below. Each of the four boxes were then placed in a larger box, with thick, brown paper filling in the gaps. (I'm going to try and upload some pictures.)
I gave the box a gentle shake when I received it and the four boxes inside didn't move, much. I imagine the couriers gave it more abuse than I did, so I'm hoping the fact the drives were in their individual boxes has minimise any shocks.
I've just checked the s/n of each drive on Samsumgs website and the warranties are showing as 'Code 100 This product is under warranty' until April 2014. So that's 3 years.
The drive's stickers state the Model as HD204UI, but the HDD P/N as HD204UI/Z4. The warranty checker lists the former, but not the latter.
I think the manufacturing date (No. 4 in list on sticker, with chinese writing) is 2011.01

As someone else has mentioned, the drives make a strange whining sound when the NAS powers up, but then within a couple of seconds it goes back to normal. During extensive disk activity, you can hear the drives chugging away (not too loud). During normal operation, they are almost silent.
They also run pretty cool. The highest temperature the NAS has reported on these drives is around 25 degrees celsius. Unfortunately, I have not been able to test the speed of these drives. All the hardware is connected to a 100Mb router, so even though the NAS is 1Gb, it can only run at 100Mb. When copying large files via the network, I was achieving a transfer rate of 72mb/s which is probably realistic for a 100Mb router. Over the weekend, I will be connecting all the hardware to a 1Gb switch and I will try and run the same transfer again.
Overall, I am pleased with the drives so far. It is a pity I could not check the warranty information.
Overall, they seem to work well enough. And I had to email Samsung tech support to see if I needed the firmware patch (I didn't) - they were quite responsive too. But I'm not totally a fan of these disks. I've not done benchmarking, but they seem slower than my Western Digitals. Although I am doing more with them. And they are *definitely* noisier; mostly in use, but they also have an odd whine when they spin up.
Reliability, temperatures etc seem to be OK.
If you're happy with something that's not necessarily the quietest best performer on the market but that gives you a lot of storage for your money, I'd recommend these.
I have since found out that Samsung hard drives have been sold to Seagate, and they are slapping the Samsung label on their old Baracuda drives to clear them. Plus the warranty has been reduced from 3 years to 1, if Seagate don't have faith in their drives why should we?
