Like many others I bought this as an upgrade for a standard PS4 hard drive. Just to confirm for anyone looking for the same: It does not need formatting. Fits perfectly. Very easy to install; just follow one of the excellent guides available on the net. Make sure you have backed up your saved game data on Playstation Network or a USB stick (or both, if like me you are a cautious soul!) Once installed and you reboot your PS4 and install the software it's like having a new PS4 from out the box so make sure you know your user name and passwords for PSN for all the accounts you have on your system. Although it doesn't take long to replace the hard drive and get your system back up and running you will have to re-install each game as you play them which can take some time especially if you have bought DLC etc. If you are using PSN to recover your saved game data you have to download it for each game (in other words don't expect your saved games to be automatically there when you re-install the game). Remember that some games have your saved games/progress saved on their own servers, such as Destiny and there won't be any saved game data on your system. Others such as Just Cause 3 will need you to re-intall saved games from PSN or USB (and just a tip, if you have bought DLC, download all of it before you start playing the game again as you may get an error message saying that it is unable to load saved games as some of the content is not available). This drive runs more quietly than my original one did and appears to be marginally quicker to load. In addition to having nearly 4 times the space for new games you will probably find that you only re-install a few of your existing games anyway as there's little point in clogging up the system with stuff you haven't played for months. Well worth the effort to stop having to delete games in order to install new ones! The picture shows the drive installed and after a few applications had been re-installed such as youtube.
