I was super pleased when the TV arrived. 43" is perfect for my living room. East to set up on the stand (four screws for the stand and four into the back of the TV and it was ready to go). Connecting to the internet was just as simple - simple found my wifi router and typing the password. Hey presto - I was ready to go.
Has all the connections I would want on a TV - 3 HDMI slots and 2 USB slots - as well as Component In (Y/Pb/Pr), Composite In (AV), Ethernet (LAN), Headphone, Digital Audio Out (Optical), a CI Slot and Scart socket (think I got all the names right there).
If you connect to an aerial it is simple to get it to search for digital channels. I don't really need it (as have Sky), but set it up anyway. Took around 5 minutes.
TV turns on quickly and swithcing between sources is easy via the source button. You can bring up the Smart TV platform via a button on the remote and it handily remembers your recently used apps. You can find and download further apps by going into the 'featured' section and then looking for what you want. I mainly use Amazon Video, YouTube and Deezer, but there are plenty of other options.
I have a samsung galaxy mobile, and the device can be super easily mirrored on the TV. I think this is the case with most samsung devices. Other phones may need to be mirrored via a HDMI cable.
Typing in on the keyboard can be a bit fiddly via the report, but believe you can either plug a remote keyboard in or download an app. I've downloaded an app to try out, but have yet to test - so will need to reserve judgement there. Searching via the remote hasn't annoyed me much - but if the app works will make searching on YouTube and other apps a little quicker.
So far I'm super happy with the picture itself - great for films and tv series and certainly a million times better than my old TV.I think the TV speakers are pretty good, although some people may like a sound system or soundbar. Might be something I purchase in future, but the TV is perfectly good without.
That covers most of the features I have used to date, but, as these are the features I bought the TV for, I can safely say that I am so happy with the TV. A great option for those who want a decent TV without breaking the bank!
It uses recent technology that has only just been surpassed at commercial level, and this has fortunately pushed the price of these great TVs downwards.
In my search for a new TV my main criteria were an LED screen, Smart TV technology, and >32" size. For anyone questioning whether to get a Smart TV or to go for cheaper models without the functionality, I'd have to recommend going for the Smart version as it cuts out having to use another device. It's as simple as pressing the standby button and then you're onto your favourite on demand service.
I picked this TV instead of other brands primarily because having a central stand gave me a bit more flexibility in where I could put it, whereas some of the other brands have a stand on each side of the TV.
The only downside I can think of is that there are some hidden settings that can be quite difficult to find. It's unlikely they'll be needed unless you're going to use this TV as a monitor for a PC, but my friend had to show me how to access a certain menu.
Overall a very good TV, and a purchase I'm very happy with. I'll be looking out for OLED 4k TVs in a few years once the next new TV technology has been released.
I keep getting an anynet+ error on screen when I change source. It also doesn't seem to interact with the Sky+HD box. I thought it would be able to at least communicate with the sky box to go to certain channels etc. Took some effort to get the Sky remote code right but I did eventually find it(forgot what it was now sorry) so now can control the TV, SKy and Sound all via 1 remote.
It plays content from USB very well, I have an old Samsung s4 which I had to update a good few times to get it to be able to speak with the TV. Few things don't work well but I can swipe content across to the screen well enough and I can use it to in put text which beats having the use navigate buttons etc.. It also works with Iphone.
The Amazon TV App is great and so is the Netflix and YouTube Apps!
Other than that the other Apps in the app store are pretty limp.
Also, in the Add for this TV there's a cool picture of a group of screens that give you weather and news updates on the side. For the life of me I can't see any evidence of this feature on the Telly. It's early days yet and I think it may require a Samsung Phone app to do it.
