I think the book deserves an Oscar,if it was a movie! Joe Casad can make you understand how TCP/IP works! Better than any book on this subject. The language is simple, just read the first chapter to see for yourshelf, that the first 5-6 pages can make you understand the basics and more...If you've got tired of these books and 'expert' writers, who do not understand or convey to the reader what they are talking about, try this book....trust me. I am a postograduate Computer Science student and i know how one can learn, if he wants. Basically with a lot of hard work, but not with this book, TCP/IP gets easier than ever!

Ok, I was critical when I ordered this book - teach anything in 24hours? But I was very pleasantly surprised upon first opening the book. Already having worked with TCP/IP for some time, but wanted to fill in gaps in knowledge base, this book has served it's purpose perfectly, written by someone obviously on top of their game, the book starts by letting the reader know exactly the format of the book from that point on and describes all aspects in just enough relevant detail for that chapter. Summaries at the end of each chapter help to reinforce the learning, and although I found the book dwelled on the hours aspect an awful lot - the book is all about learning in 24hours after all. As opposed to chapters, the book deals in hours, by the end of hour one, you should have an understanding of the very basic elements of TCP/IP, Hour 2 goes deeper and so on, the text always refers to learning more in detail in hour x..., once you get used to that it's a very well written book that fulfills its mission perfectly. Ideal for the beginner and intermediate user. very pleased with this purchase !

I've been putting off getting to grips with TCP/IP networking for years now and when I saw this book nestling on the shelf of my local library I seized the opportunity.

I really like the way this book is structured - it takes you through each of the TCP/IP layers in a straightforward and readable fashion.

It hasn't left me confused once - which I'd say is quite an achievement given such an ostensibly esoteric subject.

Having read the book I now have a new found confidence in dealing with network issues. Highly recommended.

This book told me what I wanted to know about TCP/IP although went into a lot more detail than I needed, however it was easy to follow and an interesting read. The 24 hour long sections were a bit hit-and-miss as some could be read in 10 minutes and others 3 hours. All in all a good, value for money buy

For beginers this is an excellent book, well written and comprehensivley covering the subject and surrounding areas.
I knew various bits and pieces relating to TCP that I had picked up working on other areas and this book has filled in the missing pieces and explained or clarified others. If you are new to the subject or like me need to get up to speed across the board this is a good way.
It is split into 24 by 1 hour chapters. I got through much faster as I had a background knowledge. But I suspect an absoloute beginer would happily complete a chapter an hour as the book claims.
