I thought that as a beginners book this was not too bad. I used this book when I was learning C, and C was my first experience of programming languages.
The book has good examples of how things are supposed to work and is probably more beneficial when backed up with other books, as it serves more as example programming rather than explanatory.

This book doesn't live up to the standards of other books in the 24 hours series. Having learnt Java from scratch using Teach Yourself Java in 24 Hours I found I was unable to do so with C using this book. The author writes in a very technical mannerism, too technical for a type of book that's meant to be short. One real annoyance is that he refers to each code example by a number rather than a name (e.g. "12L02.c") which makes it confusing. Tony Zhang's degree qualification is in Physics, and it shows. He introduces Maths functions before fundamentals such as decision branching statements ("if" "switch" etc.) and pointers. Big mistake. This book is very much written in the style of C books of old, tedious and fact driven, with little thought spent on amusing examples or funny metaphors. It feels a chore just reading it. If its hard facts you want, this book can provide them, and if you persevere (a failing on my part) no doubt you could learn C from this book, just don't expect this to enthrall you.

Although the course is quite clear, it tries to stuff way too much information into too little time. It can get quite confusing after a while. I would recommend this book to anyone who has good knowledge of C already and would like to go over their knowledge once more, however it is not for beginners unless they want to spend a long time learning.

Fundamental errors in the examples throughout and a complicated way of explaining the very simple.
