The point of this novel is that you should give up everything for love, and I do mean everything; friends family, job, apartment, possessions, even all your clothes, except a single solitary nightshirt. meanwhile the man should give up nothing for love, except substantial sums from his bank account.
Seriously, the hero continues to work 23 hours a day and does nothing about finding something he actually enjoys. The heroine spends her days bored, shopping and constantly shocked by the prices but happy to spend thousands of someone else's money with little argument. Not to mention, being treated like a child by those around her. She even gives up her dreams of going to university, but spends a fair amount of time telling us how board she is. Every time she tells us how boring her life is, I want to scream at her to apply to NYU FFS! She has the money, she has the time, why not grab her dream? Well, she doesn't need dreams, see, because it's all worth hours of boredom, just it to spend an hour per day (sometimes less) with her twoo wub, and get maybe a shag a month. He's just so important you see, that's all the time he can spare her and for some reason, it's enough. They never even have a single meal without interruption.
The conflicts in this novel were also totally manufactured, when there were plenty of opportunities to create believable conflict, such as leaving her home, friends, family, job, apartment and clothes, for a man who cant be bothered to spend any time with her, or come home at night (she even has to fight to see him for the hour a night, and go to him). Or how about being ordered around by staff and being told when and where she can go. That treatment would certainty make me pretty mad, that's for damn sure. But no, our conflict is over a misunderstanding of a comment in an email that he should never have seen, that was completely unrelated to the rest of the story.
I kept reading because I wanted to find out what purpose our heroine found in her new life; would she find a way to go to college or would she discover a hidden talent, or would she take up charitable causes? How would our hero find the right a work/life balance, or maybe he'd even find a whole new career! But none of that ever happened. I don't understand why these things were introduced, just to be ignored.
Boredom, clothes, moping, manufactured conflict and unrealistic HEA, pretty much sum this book up. Don't waste your money.
I really enjoyed this book it was a lovely read, yes it was silly and contrived in places, the wedding for a start, but the characters and dialogue were good I liked the way it was written and to be honest any book with billionaire love story in the title is going to be a little far fetched. I was up until nearly two am this morning reading so even though I knew how it would pan out even before I started reading I loved it, three and half stars, it's free and well worth the time.
I do agree with the other reviewers the ending was really rushed and could have been explored a lot further, I also thought it could have gone into more depth of how she was feeling only seeing him at his office when she did. I also wanted to see whether his workload had been dispersed better when they got their HEA, and I think some kind of vilanous character would have taken it up a notch too.
This book does contain sex scenes but are written on the tame side and a bit flowery as in you'll be reading words like 'pleasure centre' 'blissful explosions' to give you an idea but having said that they were still a little bit steamy and quite readable. If you are not into toned down steamy sessions though, then I would advise that this book will probably not be what your looking for. His apparant constant position swapping was a tad annoying as was his lack of a good aim (you'll have to read the book to get that one!)
All in all a pleasant albeit predictable read that is totally a typical billionaire read, which sometimes is all we need as we want to just relax and get our billionaire fix.
The story begins with a small town girl Emma meeting Jack on holiday, where the two instantly connect. They get married in secret, supposedly as a holiday adventure that they never expected to continue past their vacation time. When photos of this ceremony find there way to the press, Emma's life is changed forever where she is brought to New York in order to be the perfect wife to this billionaire. Here we see if they can move their relationship forward from the chemistry they experienced on holiday.
The reason I didn't give this 5 stars was that, although there was a epilogue and it finished the story nicely, I would have liked a little more about how their lives changed and a little bit more detail about their HEA. Apart from that this was a lovely read that I think others will enjoy
