My experience of this scale didn't start well - it is supplied with a pair of AAA alkaline batteries made by Nanfeng. Not a manufacturer I've encountered before. And given that they don't seem to be able to make a battery that carries a charge I hope I don't encounter them again. There is a reason why premier brands supply their products with Duracell batteries.
The difficulty with supplying the product with non-working batteries is that as a first-time user you have difficulty deciding whether the dead LCD display that stares blankly at you as you press the three buttons and tentatively stand on the scales is dead because of some kind of user error.
Anyway, I twigged that a new set of Duracells was required at which point things improved dramatically.
My wife and I have very different feelings about these scales, and this has worked out quite well for me.Read more ›
This scale can be set up to record the details of up to 8 individuals. You have to enter age, height, and gender and that set up process did not work as smoothly as the instructions suggested. It was another one of those – if I press enough buttons enough times I’ll eventually get it sorted. I did, but it was unnecessarily fiddly and suggests the installation of a cheap chip from China as the intelligence that drives the workings of this machine.
Accuracy: I can only compare this to my other scale and it reads just 1lb heavier; for me that’s close enough for me to be happy with. Though I have to say it is just as pernickety as my other scale about variations in readings depending upon where I place it on the bathroom floor. Six inches away and it was recording 3lb more. I placed them both in the same spot for my comparison.
I’ve never had a fat/water/BMI scale before. So I was a little surprised at how quickly the scale flipped through these three readings. There was a little icon appearing alongside each number as it flashed up, but from six feet away I couldn’t make out what it was supposed to be and ended up attempting to remember the three numbers while I checked up in the instruction booklet to figure out what they meant.Read more ›
I already have a set of scales like these, from LloydsPharmacy and they work in a similar way.
With a memory function for up to 8 members of the family, you enter each person's age and height, and then when you step on the scales, as well as measuring your weight, it sends a very mild and painless current up and around your body, from one foot to the other, ( you need to be barefoot) and from this it is able to calculate your body fat %, body water composition, and BMI.
Well it's simple enough for my old scales, but this set seems to be very indecisive and can't make its mind up how much I weigh, let alone what my BMI or body fat is!!
Such a shame, cos I really liked the look and style of these and was looking forward to ditching my old ones and replacing with these.
I'll be sticking with my old set!!
I do have some older Salter scales, which also require you to stand very still, but unlike these they give very consistent results. It seems to be pot luck (looking back through other reviews) as to whether or not you'll get a pair that work.

It has broken already after one month, no consistency with the weighing.
Overall disappointed as I have had a few items from salter.
Doesn't seem to work for me. Not sure why, but the figures don't seem accurate and differ to those another salter product give me which does a similar job. Read morePublished 1 month ago by The Truth
This is much more than a conventional set of scales. At its basic level it provides body weight the result staying on the scales when you step off, so no more staring down. Read morePublished 1 month ago by J. Aitken
