The salomon x ultra mid 2 gtx men's is an updated version of one of their most popular hiking boots, with a sleek new design and re-shaped toe bumper. Built to support and protect, the water-resistant textile and synthetic uppers come loaded with a mud guard and protective rubber toe caps. Gusseted tongues help keep debris outside the shoe, while the x ultra mid 2's sensifit design cradles feet from the midsole to the laces to deliver a snug, stable fit all around your foot. Inside, gore-tex performance booties and textile linings surround the feet with breathable, 100% waterproof comfort. Anti-microbial ortholite contoured eva footbeds work with the injected eva midsoles, molded shanks, and advanced chassis to give hikers stable, supportive cushioning over demanding terrains. Non-marking contagrip outsoles for all-mountain traction. Mid height design for extra ankle support.

They are a superb alternative to heavy sweaty boots in the summer but now that I've got attached to them I can't see me going back to my Cat boots this winter.
In addition to all the other benefits, they have a really reliable grip no matter the conditions. A top priority when trying to deal with slippy road surfaces when cling to rest on my bike.
I honestly can't believe these are not double the price... thinking of getting another pair in a different colour.
My only small criticism is they should really come with a salomon toggle lacing kit. I bought separately and they really take the shoe to the next level.
I probably only wore them for 10 miles to break in and to be honest I think I could have done long distance walking with them straight out of the box. The material is so well designed.
Usually I buy berghaus and immediately replace the insole with a sorbathane double strike. The orthalite insole in these meant I didn't have to replace the insole this time as it was a very good quality.
I managed to march through boggy water without leaking and they clean up pretty easily.
The biggest pros are that they're light and flexiable, I've struggled with heavy boots especially when they pick up mud and these were noticeably lighter. Best boots you can buy for the £100 mark.
After 18 months of use I noticed my feet were getting wet and then I saw the boot had split between the sole and the fabric of the boot. This is why my feet were getting wet. I returned the boot but they replied saying it was normal wear and tear. If you want wet feet after 18 months buy these boots otherwise I suggested you buy another brand. Very disappointed after spending so much on a pair of boots. I expected better.
they are a bit tight but not uncomfortable maybe some more breaking in will help
but no rubbing and comfortable,
combined with some merino wool socks there very comfy.
i love the look too.
